A beautiful stretch of the Suffolk coast, from Kessingland in the north to the River Stour Estuary in North Essex. Wildlife rich estuaries, shingle beaches and heathland characterise the area, together with important agriculture and forestry land and picture-postcard coastal towns. Tourism is the foremost economy with visitors attracted by the authenticity of the area, its amazing environment, quality accommodation and local food and drink.

Following the devastating Dunwich Heath wildfire, several footpath & bridleway closures remain in place, as well as restricted access to the beach

However, Westleton Footpath 17 and Westleton Heath Open Access have now reopened

The situation is being reviewed on a regular basis and closures will be in place for several months

National Landscape volunteers were out in force at the acorn tree nursery at Staverton, being shown round by woodland expert Gary Battell 🌳

Staverton Woods and The Thicks is one of the most important surviving areas of wood pasture in England. The ancient oaks are hundreds of years old

To help conservation efforts, acorns are collected and potted up. The resulting saplings, having germinated and grown into seedlings, are planted and maintained in the park
