As the temperatures start to drop, many of us will be switching our central heating back on after months of warmer weather!

Before you turn that thermostat up, here are some handy tips from Marshall Gas Ltd to help keep your home warm, safe and running efficiently this winter. 🔧

✅ 1. Check your boiler pressure
Most sealed heating systems should read around 1–1.5 bar when cold, but always check your boiler manufacturer’s instructions.

✅ 2. Test your heating
Don’t wait until the first freezing night! Turn your heating on now and check that your radiators are warming up properly.

✅ 3. Check your radiators
Cold spots at the top could mean trapped air. Bleeding your radiators may help, but remember to check your boiler pressure afterwards.

✅ 4. Check your thermostat
Make sure your thermostat and heating programmer are working correctly. If you have a wireless thermostat, check the batteries too!

✅ 5. Listen for unusual noises
Banging, gurgling or whistling noises could indicate an issue with your heating system. Don’t ignore anything unusual.

✅ 6. Check your carbon monoxide alarm
Make sure your CO alarm is working, in date and correctly positioned. Carbon monoxide is invisible and has no smell.

✅ 7. Book your annual boiler service
