Lisa spent the afternoon at Anderson's of Inverurie gathering inspiration, exploring materials, finishes and ideas before heading back to the studio to begin developing our initial design proposals.

It's always exciting to see how inspiration from the showroom evolves into the first stages of a bespoke interior design package.

Neil and Ruth first got in touch ak|d in 2021, looking for a new home in Aberdeenshire. Now, 5 years on, they love their home just as much as when they first moved in - Ground floor living, spacious Kitchen Dining Living space and connection to the outdoors.

After finding the right site, our team applied for Planning Permission for a new build bungalow to suit Neil & Ruth’s brief. Looking back, this is a successful example of joining the dots for clients and delivering a beautiful home to be enjoyed for years to come.

Annie visited another of her former residence - Old Fish Market Close by Richard Murphy Architects. This is a simple but honest example of ‘contemporary in spirit, yet rooted in tradition’.

Looking back it’s easy to pick out the things that influence you - the spaces, the details and the experiences that stay with you, and have a lasting impact on the things you create 25 years later.

On a recent trip to Edinburgh, Annie had a trip down memory lane, visiting the accommodation that influenced her early career and has had a lasting impact on her design ethos.

25 years later, it’s amazing to to revisit the mews with fresh eyes and reflect on how those early influences have continued to shape the way Annie approaches design today…
