Building capability isn't just about buying equipment.

At Field Tech Survey, we've always believed that the quality of our work starts with the quality of our team.

Over the past year, we've continued to invest in our surveyors through training, professional development, and industry-recognised qualifications. Alongside that, we've expanded our capabilities with specialist equipment that allows us to take on more challenging and technically demanding projects.

From UAV operations and LiDAR scanning to utility detection, topographical surveys, ground investigations and site monitoring, every investment we make has one purpose: delivering better outcomes for our clients.

This week's project is a great example. Working across difficult terrain, combining specialist plant, investigation equipment, and experienced personnel, we were able to gather critical information that will support the successful design and installation of future infrastructure.

The end result isn't just another completed job—it's another demonstration of what Field Tech Survey is capable of delivering.

We're proud of how far we've come, but we're even more excited about where we're heading. Every investment we make today strengthens our ability to support clients tomorrow.

If you're looking for a survey partner that combines modern technology with practical experience and a commitment to getting the job done properly, we'd be delighted to have a conversation.

Not saying too much about this one… the model really speaks for itself.

Everything you see here is measurable — from the height of individual trees, to overhead electric line clearances, gate post widths, road corridors, and much more.

This particular model stretches approximately 15.5km along the road network, although the drone itself flew considerably further to capture the huge amount of data required to create this fantastic interactive 3D environment.

The level of detail captured allows clients, designers, and contractors to remotely assess sites with clarity and confidence, helping support planning, inspections, measurements, and future project development.

A lot of work goes on behind the scenes to produce outputs like this — but the end result is simple, clear, and incredibly powerful.

Accurate data collection starts with accurate mapping.

At Field Tech Survey, we can integrate peat probing information directly onto our high-resolution orthomosaic maps, giving clients a clear and detailed understanding of ground conditions across an entire site.

By combining precise aerial mapping with peat depth recordings, we create easy-to-read visual datasets that support planning, design, environmental assessments, and infrastructure development. The ability to clearly visualise peat depths and probing locations across a mapped site helps improve decision-making and provides valuable clarity for contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders.

Our orthomosaic outputs deliver exceptional detail and site coverage, allowing important information to be layered directly onto the map for a professional and highly informative final deliverable.

When clarity speaks for itself, accurate mapping makes all the difference.

Thermal inspection technology is changing the way critical infrastructure is monitored — allowing problems to be identified before they become failures.

At Field Tech Survey our thermal drone capability allows us to quickly detect anomalies, defects, and temperature irregularities across assets that would otherwise be difficult, dangerous, or time-consuming to inspect manually.

Thermal surveys are highly effective for:

Overhead power line inspections
Detecting overheating components
Identifying failing connections and joints
Locating faults and anomalies
Asset condition monitoring
Preventative maintenance planning

Using industry-grade drone platforms and thermal sensors, we can safely inspect large areas while providing clear, actionable data to our clients.

We don’t normally boast about our work — we prefer the results to speak for themselves — but recently Field Tech Survey successfully completed a 47km overhead power line patrol using our drone and thermal inspection capabilities. A massive achievement for our team and a reflection of the professionalism, planning, and commitment we bring to every project.

From infrastructure inspections to complex survey operations, when serious work needs done, Field Tech Survey are the team for the job!

We’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far, and we look forward to what’s next.

Not all drone surveys are created equal.

This video showcases the power of LiDAR technology in action — capturing millions of highly accurate data points per second as the drone flies across the site. The result is a detailed and intelligent 3D dataset that delivers exceptional accuracy, even in complex environments.

One of the biggest advantages of LiDAR is ground classification. Unlike traditional photogrammetry, LiDAR can pe*****te vegetation and separate the true ground surface from trees, scrub, and other obstacles. This allows us to generate highly accurate terrain models where standard imagery alone may struggle.

LiDAR also excels at capturing extremely fine details, including:

Overhead line networks
Fine wires and conductors
Pole locations and structures
Accurate line heights and clearances
Terrain changes and surface detail
Infrastructure and asset positioning

Detecting fine overhead wires can be difficult using conventional survey methods, but LiDAR makes it possible with speed, safety, and precision — especially across large or difficult-to-access sites.

For clients, this means better information for:

Utility planning
Infrastructure inspections
Construction design
Safety clearances
Asset management
Progress monitoring

At Field Tech Survey we use industry-grade drone platforms and advanced LiDAR sensors to deliver reliable, high-quality survey data safely and efficiently.
