🌿🐦 Bird Nesting Season in Scotland – Be Wildlife Aware! 🐦🌿

Spring is nearly here, and that means bird nesting season is starting in Scotland! From March 1st to August 31st, our feathered friends are busy building nests, laying eggs, and raising their young.

🚨 Did you know? Disturbing nesting birds is illegal under the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981, so it's important to be mindful when out in nature.

✅ Stick to paths when walking in woodlands, fields, and coastal areas.
✅ Keep dogs on leads in sensitive areas.
✅ Avoid trimming hedges or trees until nesting season is over.
✅ Report any signs of disturbance or destruction of nests.

Let's do our part to protect Scotland’s birds! 🦜💚

Lots of trees have been damaged by the high winds in Inverkeithing, Dalgety Bay and North Queensferry. Be careful on the roads and remember to look up as there may be branches hanging dangerously above roads and paths.

It's not even spring and Giant Hogw**d is emerging in central Scotland. Last year's dead stems litter the infested area.

🌱 New Bud Growth on Japanese Knotw**d!

The mild weather during December has kickstarted new bud growth on Japanese knotw**d🌡️

This early regrowth is a reminder that even in winter, knotw**d lies dormant ready to put up new shoots. It spreads rapidly, damaging structures and ecosystems, and it’s essential to identify it early and make a plan for control of this w**d before the growing season kicks into full swing. 🚫🌿

If you think you’ve spotted new shoots or suspect knotw**d on your land, now is the perfect time to act. DM us a photo and we'll get back to you quickly.
