evening people just back on again , i see we have had our first negative comment from Mr John Doherty from Elderslie who has put up there his driveway is sinking , we done this driveway a couple years back ,I notice you started following us a few weeks back john , for our followers on the page without getting into to much details i have worked for this chap for nearly 30 years since i worked for him the first time then many times over the years , been delighted with each job , I have constructional pictures taken during install that shows all the sub base works where any engineer could look at and be very impressed you could park a lorry on this surface , I have been on my own for about 22 years now have done thousands of jobs with only 6 having issues , most of these been sorted as well , many of these are driveways . I am a Tobermore Registered installer have been using these products for 18 years with never a problem an excellent company to work with I asked customer if they would use a block I used before on another large job that was the best quality block I have ever used but they declined , they then picked a block of their own choosing nothing to do with me and not from a company I have ever used , I done a driveway for John at his previous address in Elderslie which is as good today as back when done ,we laid driveway as normal , some of the blocks started to degrade very quickly and break it should be pointed out these blocks are 60mm thick linear block but are to long for their thickness ,Tobermore do a similar block but theirs is 80mm thick , The company that supplied the blocks states they are using less cement in their blocks now to get the factory CO2 emissions lower when 2 blocks touch they are softer than normal after some of the big blocks started breaking i thought they were not up to scratch i have been in touch with their technical department who basically never replied to all my concerns and when i stated points to them they would not get back to me . I have been told since a lot of Merchants are now not stocking their products as they are having issues with their blocks , I have also been to another job only 2 weeks ago done by another contractor who my customer has stated they are having issues with the same block and another chap has told me they got all same blocks replaced as they were also having issues with them , I looked up the British Standard for them the blocks are 5 sizes , only 2 of them are classed as blocks other 3 are classed as slabs and cannot be laid as a block would be on a driveway , I also worked on a large site in Glasgow city centre when i was doing the big decking a few posts back and was working along side commercial paving contractors who pointed out to me you cannot lay the block as a standard mono block would be , they showed me how they laid theirs and theirs was 60mm solid granite which is much stronger and it is nothing like a normal driveway they even said those blocks need to be laid on a semi dry concrete base so i would say block company lied to me and customer about block use I would say this lets you know it nothing to do with me , hope this clears up any confusion
