Hello again been sorting this job pics for a while , would like to give Grants Builders Merchants a big thank you as they had asked us to build and partially design their new display in Trannent 20 miles past Edinburgh i can speak for myself and workers to say this was 1 of the most complex jobs we have done in a while but it was the most Tiring jobs I have ever done we decided to travel there every day my mistake we were to start before traffic built up starting before 6am then working late to miss the traffic so would work till 6 or 7 then head home giving us a 14 to 17 hr day every day for duration of job we were on job for about 20 weeks but only worked 4 days like this as it would be to tiring to work 5 like this but ended up being a lot of smashes on the M8 so we could be 3 hrs to get home but with that said I was super happy with this job with the way it worked out we were only asked to do job at start as the decking on this display was to be quite complex to design and build and decking was a big part of new display and we had done the paisley and Kilmarnock decks and they were happy with these so was asked to do this one after seeing job this time display was in a live builders merchants yard so I wanted it to be super safe for everyone so I designed it to be able to be hit with lorry when coming in the yard and forklifts to be able to hit the perimeter wall when going into racks without knocking the wall down , this is where we scored with our gear , we came in with our digger and breaker broke hole in concrete for posts then in with my small digger with a 400mm auger specially made for this job , we were then able to use my forklift and lift the 4m long steel H beams into the hole with MM precision we were able to drill these posts at least 1m into the ground , for these and the top curved posts with over 20 posts about 2.5 m apart if they got hit only 1 section would get damaged without a huge wall falling down this worked out mega , to tak all the posts into place temp took 3 pallets of postcrete we then built a temp formwork to follow yard concrete exactly which was job itself this then got filled with a full jager of ready mixed concrete with wall at gates was 2ft thick so even if it got hit by an artic the lorry would be worse of . we then had to build a precon wall 220mm thick ontop of this formwork so we made formwork to step up exactly on every coarse of blocks so there was no cutting worked well this wall took a full artic load of precon blocks and more to build . When wall up it was to be cladded with what ever products Grants want to display . The feature at the top was to be a fire pit with a seat round it and the decking raised up to wrap round the back of this , for the fire pit and walling we used a new to the market Pavestone tumbled stone mixed sizes ,every single stone you see in the pics was hand chiselled in a curved shape with a profile marker this part alone took me 3 weeks to build to make the seat cumfy to sit on i built it was a sloping base and an angled back to 3 compound angled curves turned out well designed to have lots of water to be able to escape when it rained heavy . with the decking it was to be all MIllboard Boards built to their spec we are Millboard registered installers so all built the way they want with all correct expansions etc , Angled winder steps to get you on to decking with a Millboard cladded fence all round it showing all the walling they do this wall fully curved even the rails were curved to get the curve correct this taking 4 days to do along with over 100 brackets , decking was to get a feature panel in middle with the new board MIllboard have just brought out MODELLO .all edging were to be a triple rubber border . We have a curved glass viewing panel in centre and for a wee extra we designed decking to have a floating bridge on it to walk out onto so you get a different look then to finish off we built a water feature into end of bridge that runs into Artificial grass under deck and get pumped around with a 200 gallon hidden water tank all this will be lit up , with decking done we were to split rest of area into 2 levels so it could get all porcelain done on it with a feature Tobermore ( we also a registered installer with them ) path down the centre . in the middle we wanted a feature again so made a place for a BBQ with sides we then decided to build a pergola over this to make it better so built this then sheeted it and fitted a rubber roof on it then cladded over it with Millboard to stand out looks great . We then made a curved seat in the corner huge amount of work and designed new steps using a new step and walling product from Tobermore rest got porcelain on it , massive job but worked out well . This post is mostly the construction of job , we have recently bought a drone for doing our jobs so this will be getting done shortly once glass gets fitted on decking this will show of the entire job of this will be one of the last job with photos , i will post this then i will put up the photos , thanks again to everyone that has supported us during the years , a lot of intersting projects coming up speak soon cheers Scott

Happy new year to customers new and old , normally get my last post up before Christmas but this year totally shattered and taken all my time off to relax we have all worked really hard to get all last years work done so big thanks to my guys , will put up a couple of posts , we have worked a good few months during the year at Mar Hall in Bishopton alongside Jack Findlay Landscapes we were to come in and put up pergolas , final level , and put in concrete bases for all the spa rooms that were getting done up then do all the porcelain titling each room was to get a patio of their own with a slatted fence between them we done this work over a few times there , it was then decided to only do the first 2 rooms with a pergola rest were to be left , we then levelled the other rooms made a concrete base and fitted the porcelain was intending to get the final photos before Christmas but ran out of time . we then worked with Jack to do the other porcelain works my guys and Jacks then finished the end patios , we then went up to the top new spa building do final grading there put up end fence and then concrete pad in each one of these , we then had to leave to do other jobs then Jack done all the back patio Porcelain we then helped jack lay the end patios with Jack doing all the front works as we were away on other works More work to be done here in the future Jack is decent chap to work alongside worked out well . Thanks again .

Hi Again another post been wanting to get up for a while taken us ages to get finished still got a couple bits to do then we to go back and redo driveway for them , this is a great couple ,excellent to work for listened to what we could offer , a local Inchinnan job , loads of work in this job even though it look like a wee job time we shifted materials about and brought more in easily well over 120 tons moved about even though its not big looking when we came in a dug garden and sorted levels we still needed 40 tons crushed brick in . There was 3 original back walls and fences none done properly we dug down 2ft below neighbors behind us put in a big retaining wall that was filled 2ft plus with rubble and land drains and 10 tons drainage gravel built this up to over 6ft high with most of wall under ground , customer asked for a nice size Garden room so we dug out and made a proper concrete base for it Big thanks here to Mel at Inside Out Garden rooms she worked with my customer to tailor the exact Garden room she wanted and built that for them , we done a huge water detail around this so as not to damage room and to let paving drain around the room . we were to get garden to full size and do a new composite fence around it with aluminium posts and steel inserts level garden up , when you came out back door you walked down steps to back garden we changed this so we built a raised Millboard composite decking as big as we could get here so they can get the most out of the sun there complete with glass front ,matching composite fence round it for privacy and matching steps as the house extension had both sets got glass shaped to match the steps very nice , when deck done it was to get a porcelain path all round perimeter , with a bin store at the back of the summer house then a new patio and curved paths to tie all together all in same porcelain complete with a black edging that we cut into hundreds of bits to get round the curve and 8 different level changes customer delighted with job , they now have a private garden with loads of places to sit a nice lawn and good flower beds they are looking forward to planting up once again thanks to them for being great and we will be back when we get of current large project that we are on cheers

Hi Again not had any posts up for a while a lot going on ,going to be putting a few up shortly been on some very interesting jobs recently more of this shortly todays post if for a job we were on a wee while back that I have just sorted the photos out for now that we all take photos to see the best , this is 2 jobs in East Kilbride , these jobs were for a Landlord these people always get a bad rap about not looking after property's and only caring about rent etc these 2 property's had good tenants in them and landlord was looking to give them both nice gardens I know for a fact it will take years to recoup the money spent on the gardens so thanks to them for doing it , they were both similar where they both got gutted , levelled out retaining walls put in new paths and patios , some new fences one of the jobs had a commercial manhole 7ft deep and 4ft square we were able to sort this to get it looking part of job both tenants are very happy to have a garden they can use and kids can play in rather than 1 of our fancy jobs cheers

evening people just back on again , i see we have had our first negative comment from Mr John Doherty from Elderslie who has put up there his driveway is sinking , we done this driveway a couple years back ,I notice you started following us a few weeks back john , for our followers on the page without getting into to much details i have worked for this chap for nearly 30 years since i worked for him the first time then many times over the years , been delighted with each job , I have constructional pictures taken during install that shows all the sub base works where any engineer could look at and be very impressed you could park a lorry on this surface , I have been on my own for about 22 years now have done thousands of jobs with only 6 having issues , most of these been sorted as well , many of these are driveways . I am a Tobermore Registered installer have been using these products for 18 years with never a problem an excellent company to work with I asked customer if they would use a block I used before on another large job that was the best quality block I have ever used but they declined , they then picked a block of their own choosing nothing to do with me and not from a company I have ever used , I done a driveway for John at his previous address in Elderslie which is as good today as back when done ,we laid driveway as normal , some of the blocks started to degrade very quickly and break it should be pointed out these blocks are 60mm thick linear block but are to long for their thickness ,Tobermore do a similar block but theirs is 80mm thick , The company that supplied the blocks states they are using less cement in their blocks now to get the factory CO2 emissions lower when 2 blocks touch they are softer than normal after some of the big blocks started breaking i thought they were not up to scratch i have been in touch with their technical department who basically never replied to all my concerns and when i stated points to them they would not get back to me . I have been told since a lot of Merchants are now not stocking their products as they are having issues with their blocks , I have also been to another job only 2 weeks ago done by another contractor who my customer has stated they are having issues with the same block and another chap has told me they got all same blocks replaced as they were also having issues with them , I looked up the British Standard for them the blocks are 5 sizes , only 2 of them are classed as blocks other 3 are classed as slabs and cannot be laid as a block would be on a driveway , I also worked on a large site in Glasgow city centre when i was doing the big decking a few posts back and was working along side commercial paving contractors who pointed out to me you cannot lay the block as a standard mono block would be , they showed me how they laid theirs and theirs was 60mm solid granite which is much stronger and it is nothing like a normal driveway they even said those blocks need to be laid on a semi dry concrete base so i would say block company lied to me and customer about block use I would say this lets you know it nothing to do with me , hope this clears up any confusion

we have just put up a new fence for previous customer first time we have used this system came from Grants composite slats with aluminium posts with steel inserts looks mega and the most accurate fence we have ever installed there is a metal plate on the bottom of slats with a hook system on it that means each post lines up with the next by not even 2mm of a difference

Hi There , a different wee post this time , people ask me why bother doing a decent job what's it matter , this job i have put up was for 1 of our regular customers , they had their fence blown down in the big storm just there where the posts were snapped at the bottom , this job was done 13 years ago . The next 5 pics are the back garden which we done again 13 years ago with the next 4 pics taken today garden was all cleaned up again , washed and hoovered grass and re pointed slabs job still looks great that is why it is worth doing a decent job cheers
