🚀 Amazon Leo is coming to the UK

The next generation of satellite broadband is getting closer

Amazon is preparing to launch Amazon Leo, its new low-Earth-orbit satellite broadband network, in the UK.

Formerly known as Project Kuiper, Amazon Leo is being developed to provide fast, reliable internet connectivity to homes and businesses, particularly in rural and hard-to-reach areas where traditional broadband can be limited.

Amazon has already received approval from Ofcom to operate its satellite broadband service in the UK, with the UK expected to be among the first countries to receive the service.

📡 When will Amazon Leo be available?

Amazon originally targeted mid-2026 for commercial availability, but the rollout has been delayed as the company continues to build its satellite constellation.

As of September 2026, Amazon Leo had deployed around 396 satellites, with further launches planned. Recent reports indicate that wider consumer, business and public-sector availability is now expected towards the end of 2026, although Amazon has not announced a specific UK launch date.

Amazon's own UK information currently states that it plans to roll out Leo more widely during 2026 as additional satellites are launched and network capacity increases.

🛰️ What does this mean for UK customers?

Amazon Leo is designed to offer high-speed, low-latency connectivity using satellites orbiting much closer to Earth than traditional satellite broadband.

Amazon is developing a range of customer terminals, including:

Leo Nano
Up to 100 Mbps download

Leo Pro
Up to 400 Mbps download

Leo Ultra
Up to 1 Gbps download and up to 400 Mbps upload, aimed at higher-demand and enterprise applications.

Good couple of days at a house in Dale abbey, electricain left the customer with a hole in the wall, no internet, starlink dish held down with bricks and sand bags, cables hanging from ceiling, car EV charger and bare cables just left on the floor to the elements and cables trailed 2m out of a wall in the office with ends falling off and not working.

To fix this, I chopped out the wall in the office and fitted a proper back box and brushed socket, sorted, shortened, labled and added new connections to all the cat6 data cables in the office, then added a TPlink Omada 24 port gigabit switch with POE+, the Starlink router and power supply and fitted it all into a nice white data cabinet.

We fitted, 4 x TP link Omada wifi 7 access ports throughout the house and set them up with new wifi name and password.

Removed the bricks and sandbags from the starlink on the roof (was getting 60mbps due to obstructions and not being set properly), and installed it on a proper starlink gen 3 adapter and bonded it to a large slab on the flat roof. (Now getting 250mbps).

Ran the external gate and EV charge data points into a weaterproof box and terminated them ready for connection.

Connected all the CCTV, heating system, laptops, phones and smart devices yo the new WiFi system.
