What is a permeable driveway?

Unlike concrete or tarmac, a permeable driveway allows rainwater to drain naturally into the ground instead of creating runoff and puddles.

Ecodeck gravel grids stabilise the surface while keeping it fully permeable, creating durable, eco-friendly driveways made from 100% recycled plastic.

Take a look at the below guide to installing your Ecodeck Rubber Safety Matting:

1. Mark out the area. Mats can be laid directly onto existing
grassed areas.
2. Leave about 150mm in from the outside edges.
3. Unroll the mesh and then lay the Ecodeck Rubber Safety
Matting over the mesh area to be covered.
4. Cut about 75mm deep into the ground along the outside
edge of the perimeter area.
5. Roll back the Ecodeck Rubber Safety Mat and cut the top turf away.
6. Roll the Ecodeck Rubber Safety Matting back and down into
the channel.
7. Cover the ramped area with topsoil and seed.

Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) use nature-based solutions to address drainage challenges. By incorporating grassed and other permeable surfaces, installing rain gardens, or creating attenuation ponds, they help reduce the risk of surface and river flooding. These systems capture excess rainfall and gradually filter it into the ground.

Currently, new developments that pave over grassland and soil can increase surface and sewer flood risk by removing natural areas that would otherwise absorb heavy rainfall.

Extremely tough and robust, the EarthPress Grass Grid can comfortably withstand vehicles up to 25 tonnes.

How it works:
The innovative design allows for the grid to be ‘pressed’ into the existing ground ensuring that all traffic ride on the combination of both the grids and the ground preventing ground churning.

The tapered sharper edge from the bottom of the grid allows the deck to cut through the earth like a knife as weight is applied.

Its wider middle profile tapers back down to a slightly less sharp top edge, meaning the earth can trap the grids down to prevent a lifting action, this is where our grid is unlike any other grid in the world, and with this the corners of the grid have a specially designed rib which also prevents it from lifting.

The longer they are in the ground, the more wrapped & binded they become by the grass, leading to a far more durable and stable surface, which stays green even in the winter wet months, preventing mud.

Maintaining your gravel grids is important in ensuring the longevity of your permeable pavers.

For best results, always ensure the girds are filled with the specified standard of gravel to the brim (minimum) to add extra strength and protection to each section.

Ensure you remove debris as things like leaves and twigs may accumulate on your driveway especially in autumn and winter. Clearing these regularly with a rake or leaf blower will keep it looking great and safe guard your guarantee.

Remove w**ds, even with w**d control fabric installed w**ds may start to grow in your
gravel driveway. You can remove these by hand or use a w**d killer in the affected areas.

Add extra gravel, over time, the level of gravel on your driveway may drop. If this happens, it will be necessary to apply extra gravel to top it up.
