Central & East Region Air Cadets

We’re delighted to announce Squadron Leader Tracey Allan as our first Regional Influence and Engagement Officer. This role sits alongside that of the Regional Media Officer.

Sqn Ldr Allan commissioned into the Air Training Corps in 2003, after joining her local squadron at the age of 14. As a junior officer she was actively involved in many aspects of both Squadron and Wing activities before becoming the Officer Commanding 1249 (Dereham) Sqn in - a post she held for 12 years and where she led the unit to being the Regional Lees Trophy nominees in 2017, and received a Lord Lieutenant of Norfolk Commendation in 2017.

In 2019 she took on the secondary role as Wing Media Officer, before being promoted to Sqn Ldr in 2023 and becoming a Sector Commander supporting a number of different units throughout Norfolk. Highlights of her cadet career include representing the Air Cadets at the RAF100 Reception at Buckingham Palace and this year heading to New Zealand as an Escorting Officer with the International Air Cadet Exchange.

In her professional life, Tracey is the Head of Community & Service Development with a local Hospice, having worked within community engagement, charity sector and volunteering for the last 16 years. Her role involves providing strategic oversight, innovation and management

In her spare time she enjoys playing hockey and walking her dog, Cooper.

RWO update-
An excellent few days celebrating the people who make the Cadet Forces what they are! ✈️💙

It was a privilege to attend the first Cadet Forces Adult Volunteer Recognition Dinner, spending the night with a small group of staff from Central and East Region, alongside a much larger group of like-minded RAFAC volunteers from across the country. It was a fantastic opportunity to come together, share experiences and recognise the dedication, commitment and hard work that goes on behind the scenes to support our cadets.

Tonight, I had the pleasure of visiting 511 (Ramsey) Squadron for my first unit visit as Region Warrant Officer (RWO). It was particularly special to return to a unit where I previously served as OC and see how things have continued to develop.

It was great to see cadets learning new skills, developing their confidence and making the most of the opportunities available to them. A fitting way to round off a week dedicated to recognising the contribution of our volunteers and the positive impact they have across the Cadet Forces.

A huge thank you to everyone who gives their time, energy and enthusiasm to make a difference. The people behind the uniform are what make this organisation so special. 👏

As we start the inaugural National Cadet Week, it is fitting to recognise the remarkable contribution of the volunteers who continue to create exceptional opportunities for young people across our organisation. This month’s achievements showcase the breadth of what is possible through dedication, teamwork and innovation, from the delivery of a brand new Wing camp and an overseas Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition, to pioneering training weekends and collaborative activities that brought together cadets and volunteers from across multiple organisations. Collectively, these initiatives delivered hundreds of qualifications, developed new skills, fostered confidence and resilience, and provided experiences that cadets will remember for years to come.

There’s something rather special about having His Majesty The King recognise National Cadet Week. 👑 It’s a fabulous acknowledgement of cadets and adult volunteers who give their time, energy and enthusiasm to help young people thrive.

A lovely reminder that all those early mornings, late evenings and uniform prep are worth it!
