☀️ Why Do Conservatories Get So Hot in Summer?

It's one of the questions we're asked most often—and the answer isn't simply, "because they're made of glass."
A conservatory becomes hot because sunlight passes easily through the glazing, warming the air and the surfaces inside. Once that heat is trapped, it has nowhere to escape if ventilation and insulation aren't up to the job. The result? A room that's lovely on a spring morning but can feel unbearably hot during the summer.
The good news is that this doesn't always mean you need a brand-new conservatory.
In many cases, improvements such as modern energy-efficient glazing, better roof insulation, improved ventilation or replacement doors and windows can make a dramatic difference. Every conservatory is different, so the best solution depends on its design, age and orientation.
At Countryman Improvements, we always begin by understanding the problem before recommending a solution. Sometimes a refurbishment is all that's needed, saving homeowners the cost of a complete replacement.
Is your conservatory too hot in summer or too cold in winter? We'd be happy to offer honest, no-obligation advice on the options available.
💬 We'd love to hear from you—what's the biggest challenge with your conservatory?

INTERNAL BLINDS can help manage heat in a room.
It's recommended to keep internal blinds closed during heatwaves to prevent heat accumulation, while opening them at night allows for ventilation.
