🏡 Ringmer Extension Progress Update 🔨

Things are coming along really well on our Ringmer extension! 🙌

From the excavation and groundworks to the installation of steels, drainage, and now the brickwork taking shape, it’s fantastic to see the project progressing and the new space beginning to come to life.

The blockwork, external brickwork and concrete floor are all taking shape, with plenty more progress to come as we move on to the next stages. 👏

Another step closer to bringing our client’s vision to life, delivered with care, quality and attention to detail every step of the way.

Progress update at Meadow View 🏗️

A busy week on site, with the structural steel now in place as work continues to open up the rear of the property. The team has also been clearing the site and preparing for the next stage of the extension.

The old existing structure is being carefully removed, ready to make way for a lovely new extension. We can’t wait to see this transformation take shape!

Hidden history uncovered at our Lower Market Street property 🔍

During the strip-out, we discovered these old cigarette and match packets hidden above the original lath-and-plaster ceiling.

From Wild Woodbine cigarettes—possibly dating back to the First World War era—to Swedish safety matches and a later JPS packet from around the 1970s–80s, each find offers a fascinating glimpse into the building’s past.

One ceiling void, several different decades and plenty of stories left behind!

The property has been stripped back and made safe, with structural supports and steels being prepared for the next stage. An exciting transformation ahead—we can’t wait to share the progress!

At a time when traditional building skills are becoming increasingly rare, Little St Mary’s demonstrates the importance of specialist heritage craftsmanship. The project has already generated considerable interest throughout Sussex and has led to increasing enquiries for conservation work. As completion approaches, the restoration stands as an example of how traditional craftsmanship, sustainable natural materials and modern conservation principles can work together to preserve Britain’s historic buildings.

A PROJECT THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING

For almost a year, behind the scaffold and temporary roof covering in the historic village of Bramber, an extraordinary conservation story has been unfolding. Little St Mary’s, a remarkable timber-framed building with origins dating back more than 500 years, has demanded exceptional levels of craftsmanship, engineering and conservation expertise. What began as a programme of repairs evolved into a highly complex restoration as hidden structural failures and centuries of alterations were uncovered.

After months of restoring this incredible cottage with the care and craftsmanship it deserves, we’re finally entering the finishing stages.

Watching a building that’s stood for over four centuries come back to life has been something special.

But while one chapter is coming to an end… another is just beginning.
