From bare soil to premium freshly harvested turf 🌱
We joined Alex Edwards from for a fascinating look behind the scenes at the skill, time and precision that go into producing premium natural turf.
Starting with carefully prepared bare soil, Alex takes us through the complete growing journey: seeding the fields, nurturing the developing grass, regular mowing to create a strong and consistent sward, and finally harvesting, rolling and loading the turf ready for delivery.
It is a process that combines specialist knowledge, modern machinery and meticulous attention to detail at every stage. The finished roll may look simple, but months of careful management go into ensuring it arrives healthy, consistent and ready to establish.
Watch the video to discover how turf goes from seed in the ground to a finished living product ready to transform landscapes, gardens and sports surfaces.

What is wildflower turf? 🌼
Wildflower turf is a pre-grown mix of wildflowers and grasses that can be laid in much the same way as traditional lawn turf.
Because the plants already have an established root system, wildflower turf provides even coverage and establishes quickly—helping to create a colourful, species-rich meadow without the uncertainty or patchy germination that can come with sowing seed.
Why choose wildflower turf?
🌱 Fast and reliable establishment
🌸 A carefully selected mix of wildflower species
🐝 Valuable habitat and food for bees, butterflies and other pollinators
🌿 Increased biodiversity
✂️ Lower maintenance than a traditional lawn once established
🏡 Suitable for gardens, landscaping projects, public spaces, developments, green roofs and specialist schemes
Different turf mixes are available for a range of site conditions and project goals, including general landscaping, shaded areas, SuDS schemes and species-rich lawns.
Want to know how it works, how to prepare the ground and whether turf or seed is right for your project?
We sat down with the experts from Wildflower Co. for our All Things Wildflower podcast to answer the most commonly asked questions about wildflower turf and seed.

2–6mm Granite for BS 7533-102:2025 Modular Paving Installations
Our 2–6mm Granite is not new, but its importance has never been greater.
With the introduction of BS 7533-102:2025, material selection is firmly in focus for the installation of modular paving systems. Our clean, angular and free-draining 2–6mm Granite provides the characteristics required for suitable paving laying courses and joints where the project specification permits.
Already trusted by contractors and landscapers, it is the same proven product but now recognised as a practical aggregate option aligned with the new British Standard guidance.
Why use and specify Bury Hill 2–6mm Granite?
✅ Clean, washed aggregate with reduced fines
✅ 2–6mm grading for suitable modular paving applications
✅ Angular particles for strong interlock and stability
✅ Free-draining performance
✅ Suitable for laying courses or jointing where specified
✅ Ideal for professional paving and landscaping projects
Typical uses include modular paving installations, driveways, patios, pedestrian areas and commercial landscaping schemes.
If you install or specify modular paving, make sure you are choosing materials appropriate to the pavement design and the latest installation guidance.
2–6mm Granite, a familiar Bury Hill product with renewed relevance under BS 7533-102:2025.
