This Weigela has come into its own after a couple of years of carefully timed regenerative pruning. The Wisteria had to be cut right down to allow the trellis to be replaced. Three years on it's blooming again and can only get better!

This morning I dug up a crab apple that despite being in the ground about 10 years had never thrived. The orange line is where the soil level was and the blue line is just below the root flare. It was planted about 15cm too deep.

Garden planted October 2021 is filling out well. The soil in the new build garden was compacted, unimproved clay soil. Adding in plenty of organic matter in preparing the beds meant everything has established and grown well.

Sympathetic pruning of a large Camellia. It had begun to overhang the path and crowd neighbouring shrubs. Pruning now, as flowering finished, gives the best chance of flowering next spring.
I noticed a few things whilst pruning. There was evidence of sooty mould which indicates the presence of aphids. A healthy blue tit population has put paid to them! Leaf colour was quite varied. A lovely dark green on the shadier side but a little sun bleached on the South side. A few buds hadn't opened possibly due to the dry February.

Cut back the ivy at the bottom of the hedge which was encroaching on the drive. Amazing what a difference it makes. Left the ivy under the hedge as it provides a habitat for animals.
