🌳 Large dead oak removal – Shipley, West Sussex 🌳

Last week, we removed a large dead oak from beside a lane after local authorities notified our customer that it needed removing for safety reasons.

Using our tractor-mounted hydraulic winch alongside high-lift felling wedges, we felled the tree into the adjoining field, where we processed the timber and put it to good use:

🌿 The top and smaller branches were chipped.
🪵 The canopy timber was cut into cordwood for firewood.
🪚 The main trunk was cut into quarters and sent to a local sawmill.

A big tree with plenty of useful timber, even after reaching the end of its life. Watch the video to see the job from felling through to processing! 🎥

⚠️ NOTICE TO HORSE RIDERS & LOCAL ROAD USERS – SMITHERS HILL LANE 🐴

We will be felling and removing a large dead oak tree beside Smithers Hill Lane, near the small bridge today (Tuesday 6th October) There will be machinery operating and noise from chainsaws and other equipment, which may startle horses.

We’ll do our best to pause work whenever we see or hear horses approaching and allow you to pass once it is safe.

However, with machinery running, we may not always notice you straight away. Please catch our attention from a safe distance and wait for the team to acknowledge you before passing the work area.

If we don’t spot you approaching or the noise causes any upset, please accept our apologies. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we carry out this work.

We’ll have a stand at The George & Dragon in Shipley on Sunday 27 September, 11am–5pm. We’ll be showcasing some of our machinery and taking orders for logs for the coming season, so come and have a chat if you’d like to get stocked up.

We’ll also have small netted bags of logs available to take home on the day. At least half the proceeds from those bags will go to the fair’s chosen charities, KSS Air Ambulance and Macmillan Cancer Support. 💚
