It Was Still Working… But Something Didn’t Feel Right! 🔧🚪

An interesting gearbox replacement today.

The customer’s door was still locking and unlocking, but the mechanism didn’t feel quite right. Rather than waiting for it to fail completely and potentially leave the door jammed shut, I decided to investigate further.

I removed the gearbox from the door — and found that it was already broken internally! ⚙️❌

It was still managing to operate, but it was only a matter of time before it failed completely.

Jammed Door Opened & Failed Gearbox Replaced in Horsham🔧🚪

A more challenging repair today — the customer’s door was completely jammed shut after part of the multipoint gearbox snapped off internally, leaving the locking mechanism stuck in position.

Because the broken part was trapped inside the mechanism, the usual opening methods weren’t possible. I had to carefully drill the failed gearbox to release the locking points and get the door open without replacing the whole door.

✅ New replacement gearbox fitted
✅ Multipoint locking system checked and adjusted
✅ Door tested and locking smoothly again 🔐

A failing gearbox often gives warning signs such as a stiff handle, difficulty lifting the handle, or problems locking the door. Getting it checked early can prevent it from eventually jamming completely.

The customers had recently moved into their new home and only then discovered several problems with the door. The handle wobbly and worn, the gearbox was failing, and the Euro cylinder also needed replacing.
