The build features a spacious main garden room, finished internally with wood panelling, alongside a separate bike storage room to keep everything secure and out of the way. We also completed the new patio, tying the whole project together and creating a smart, usable area outside the room.

But a great finished build is only part of what matters to us.

Ali & Ian described the BoxClever team as “reliable, hardworking, respectful, tidy and genuinely lovely to have around”, adding that the team took real pride in their work – and that they actually miss having them there!

Do I need planning permission for a garden room?

It's probably the question we're asked more than any other.

The good news is that most garden rooms can be built without planning permission, provided they meet the rules under Permitted Development.

One of the biggest things to remember is the 2.5m rule, if your garden room is within 2 metres of your boundary, it will usually need to be no higher than 2.5 metres.

There are some exceptions. Planning permission may still be needed if:
• Your home is listed.
• Your permitted development rights have been removed.
• You live in a conservation area or another protected location.
• Your building exceeds the permitted size or height limits.

Every property is different, which is why we always recommend checking before you build.
