This exciting development will deliver a safer, more accessible, and easier-to-use facility for local residents. Once complete, the upgraded centre will offer improved recycling and waste disposal services, with the capacity to accept a wide range of materials including general waste, recyclables, garden waste, and electrical items.

We're proud to have started work on a major decarbonisation project at Cornerstone Arts Centre in Didcot on behalf of South Oxfordshire District Council . Over the coming months, our team will be installing 56 solar panels and four air source heat pumps, replacing the existing gas boiler system with cleaner, greener technology.

This will help reduce the building's carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency and support the council's ambition to create a more sustainable future for the district.

Last week, we welcomed Sam, from Hitchin Boys' School, for a rotational work experience placement across a variety of our departments.

With an interest in pursuing a career in civil engineering, Sam spent time with teams across the business to gain a deeper understanding of the construction industry and the many career paths it offers.

Throughout the week, Sam explored a wide range of roles across the business. He built on his CAD skills with our Design team, joined our Surveying team on a visit to the new SEN school project in Letchworth, and learned how our Estimating team supports projects through the tender process. He also discovered the important work carried out by our Business Management and Customer Care teams, gaining valuable insight into how we deliver successful projects and support our clients every step of the way.

Reflecting on his placement, Sam said:
"Overall, I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement at Ashe since it has helped me to understand more about the construction industry as a whole, as well as the different smaller groups and roles available within construction."

Thank you, Sam, for your enthusiasm throughout the week and we wish you every success in your future studies and career.

We were delighted to welcome a fantastic group of neurodivergent Jobcentre Plus customers to our Potters Bar project for a Construction Insight event.

Working alongside Jobcentre Plus, Danny (Project Manager at Journey's Academy) and Natalie (Social Value Manager) welcomed attendees who were keen to explore employment opportunities, build confidence, and gain a better understanding of careers within the construction industry.

The aim of the session was to provide an inclusive insight into the world of construction, showcase the variety of roles available both on and off site, and demonstrate how different skills and perspectives can add real value to our industry.

The day included a site induction, project overview, interactive discussions, a guided site tour, and the opportunity to connect with industry professionals in a welcoming and supportive environment.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making the event such a success, and to all those who attended and contributed to the positive atmosphere. We look forward to continuing to create opportunities that help make construction a more inclusive and accessible industry for all.
