Bathrooms are a great example of the notion that the smallest spaces require the most thoughtful design.

Every client has their own preferences and every project comes with different considerations in terms of space and budget. So when planning bathrooms, we first think about how the room needs to work for the people using it, both now and in the future.

For some, particularly families with young children, a separate bath and shower may be very important, while for others a shower-over-bath is perfectly adequate. Some clients simply don’t like baths and would much rather have a big, luxurious shower.

These are some of our favourite bathrooms from projects past, each suited to the clients’ individual needs. Which one is your favourite?

Continuing our tour of this recently completed West Hitchin home with a closer look at the boot room.

We think carefully about storage from the early stages of every project. Here, built-in cabinetry, bench seating and wall hooks provide dedicated storage for coats and shoes. The generous footprint also allows for a small desk, providing a useful spot for everyday family organisation.

Even here we wanted to maintain a connection with the garden. With only a narrow section of external wall available, we tucked in a tall, slim window to introduce natural light and offer a joyful snapshot of the garden. Combined with our clients’ choice of warm, practical finishes, it makes this hardworking room feel considered and inviting.

After sharing a glimpse of the oriel window, we’re excited to reveal more of this West Hitchin home.

When designing the first floor, we positioned the main bedrooms at the rear of the house to take full advantage of the remarkable views. Large gable windows in each bedroom and a picture window on the landing now frame a changing landscape of mature tree canopies, surrounding rooftops and the clients’ own garden below.

We’re incredibly pleased with how these spaces have come together and delighted that our clients are equally happy with the result.

It was a pleasure to work on this beautiful Arts and Crafts home in the heart of Letchworth Garden City.

A rear extension and partial garage conversion created the extra space needed to improve function and comfort, while remaining sensitive to the Garden City setting and heritage constraints.

From the pan tile creasing to the Georgian glazing bars, each exterior detail was carefully considered to preserve the character and charm of the property and its surroundings.

Inside, the reworked layout includes an open-plan kitchen, dining and living space, alongside a snug, utility room, study, shower room, and a flexible exercise and guest room.
