πŸ’œ Last week's feature presentation at BNI Business Connect was delivered by Valerie Viot from Together Against Cancer, giving us an insight into the incredible support the charity provides for people affected by cancer.

One thing many of us hadn't appreciated was just how much support is available. Together Against Cancer provides free cancer support for up to three years beyond a person's last procedure, with services including complementary therapies, massage, reflexology, acupuncture, counselling and group activities.

Valerie also shared the personal story behind why the charity means so much to her, along with some of the experiences of people who have benefited from the welcoming and supportive environment they provide.

And there's a big milestone approaching - Together Against Cancer celebrates its 10th anniversary this October! πŸŽ‰

Valerie challenged us to think about how we can help them continue their work. That could be organising a fundraiser, introducing the charity to a business looking for a cause to support, making a regular donation, attending an event or simply sharing their work on social media.

Thank you, Valerie, for a heartfelt and informative presentation, and for showing us the difference Together Against Cancer is making in our community. πŸ‘

πŸ”’ The other week at Business Connect, our feature presentation was delivered by Richard Clark from Secure with L & R, who gave us a fascinating insight into CCTV and how to get it right.

One of Richard's biggest messages was simple: don't just stick your cameras up in the eaves!

It might give you a great view of the top of someone's head, but that's not particularly useful when you actually need to identify them. πŸ‘€

Richard explained how the positioning and choice of cameras can make a huge difference to the quality of a CCTV system, as well as why professionally installed, hard-wired cameras remain an important choice when you want reliable security.

Alongside CCTV, Secure with L&R also provides alarm and security systems for homes and businesses, combining years of experience with a personal approach to designing the right system for each property. They're also SSAIB certificated and NAPIT approved.

Thank you, Richard, for an informative presentation – and for making us all reconsider where our cameras are pointing! πŸ‘

🀝 Recently at Business Connect, Sharon from Kudos Designs and Websites Ltd shared a fantastic testimonial for fellow member Sima Chauhan from Travel with Sima (Not Just Travel).

Sharon admitted she'd never used a personal travel consultant before. Like many people, she'd assumed it would be more expensive - and wondered why she'd ask somebody else to do something she could arrange herself.

As Sharon put it: she was wrong! ✈️

When it came to arranging a ski holiday for five people, Sima kept an eye out for the right deals and found an offer that saved the group Β£746 on their ski passes, as well as helping them avoid a single-person supplement.

But the testimonial wasn't just about the savings. Sharon highlighted Sima's patience, responsiveness and determination to find the right deal - even taking time out of a family trip to make sure they didn't miss the offer.

It's a great example of the trust and relationships that BNI is all about. By getting to know the people behind the businesses, our members can confidently recommend each other based on genuine first-hand experience.

Well done, Sima - some very well-deserved Kudos! πŸ‘

πŸ‘‹ A big welcome to the newest member of BNI Business Connect - Matt Davison from Charity Helper!

Matt joins us in the Digital Marketing seat, specialising in helping charities and non-profit organisations make more of their online presence.

Charity Helper helps eligible non-profits secure the Google Ad Grant - worth up to Β£7,500 per month in Google advertising - and then provides the specialist knowledge needed to manage their digital advertising effectively.

While Charity Helper is a new brand, it's backed by the many years of digital marketing experience behind BBOSS, with a particular focus on understanding the needs of the charity sector.

Matt has actually taken over the seat from Cam, so he's certainly had a good introduction to BNI! πŸ˜„
He's looking forward to building relationships with other local businesses and helping us connect more charities with the support available to them.

And when he's not talking digital marketing, you might find him playing Roundnet - something we're sure we'll hear more about over the coming weeks!

Welcome to BNI Business Connect, Matt. We're really pleased to have you as part of the chapter! πŸ‘

🌟 Congratulations to Sharon Lewin from Kudos Designs and Websites Ltd, our Notable Networker for August! 🌟

This month's award recognises Sharon's outstanding commitment to our BNI Business Connect chapter, after she topped both the Visitor and 1-to-1 charts during July. πŸ‘

For those outside BNI, visitors are an important part of keeping a chapter growing and introducing new businesses to the group, while 1-to-1s are meetings between members where they take the time to really understand each other's businesses, build stronger relationships and learn how they can help one another.

Sharon's efforts across both are a great example of the commitment that makes a successful BNI chapter tick – getting involved, building relationships and helping to grow the wider network.

A very well-deserved Notable Networker award – congratulations, Sharon! πŸŽ‰

✈️ This week's feature presentation at BNI Business Connect took us somewhere a little warmer, courtesy of Sima Chauhan from Travel with Sima (Not Just Travel)!

Sima started by asking us to close our eyes and imagine our perfect holiday – where we'd go, what we'd do and what would make it special. Then came the easy bit… imagine simply calling Sima and asking her to make it happen! πŸ–οΈ

It was a great way to demonstrate the difference a personal travel consultant can make. Rather than spending hours comparing flights, hotels, packages and excursions yourself, Sima brings her own extensive travel experience and knowledge to help create the right trip – while making the whole process much less stressful.

And there's certainly no shortage of choice. Sima works with a huge range of travel providers, so she's not tied to one airline, cruise line, hotel group or holiday company. From family holidays and cruises to excursions, packages and group trips such as golfing holidays, she can bring everything together.

Sima also shared some lovely examples of trips she's arranged for customers and the fantastic feedback she's received – not just about the destinations, but how easy and well-organised their whole experience was.

Most importantly, if something doesn't quite go to plan, you've got a real person who knows your booking and has your back.

Thank you, Sima, for a brilliant presentation and for getting us all thinking about our next holiday! β˜€οΈ

If you'd like to experience BNI Business Connect for yourself, meet a supportive group of local business owners and learn more about what they do, we'd love to welcome you as a visitor.

🏠 Last week's feature presentation at BNI Business Connect was delivered by Steve Tempest from Mortgage Advice Bureau - Hinckley, who showed us that mortgage advice is about much more than simply buying your next home.

Steve talked through some of the different situations where he and his team can help – from re-mortgaging to fund an extension or alterations, through to navigating bigger life changes such as a breakup or divorce.

There are also times when the numbers simply need another look. Perhaps disposable income is becoming tighter, circumstances have changed, or an elderly relative is considering releasing equity from their home. Having someone who understands the options available can make those conversations much easier.

The key message was simple: mortgages aren't just something to think about when you're moving house.

With a team of experts behind him, Steve can help people understand their options and find a way forward that's appropriate for their circumstances.

Thank you, Steve, for an informative presentation and a great insight into the many different ways Mortgage Advice Bureau Hinckley can support people. πŸ‘

Everyone wants more referrals.

But the strongest referrals are rarely immediate.

They begin with a conversation.
That conversation builds a relationship.
The relationship creates trust.
Trust leads to recommendations.
And recommendations build a reputation.

Great networking is not about selling harder. It is about building genuine relationships with people who understand, trust and are happy to recommend you.

Do that consistently, and opportunities start finding you.
