Something a little different from our usual electrical projects.

This Victorian property presented a unique challenge due to its thick solid walls, which were affecting the home's Wi-Fi coverage. To provide a reliable network throughout the property, we installed additional data points in the home office along with a Wi-Fi access point to improve connectivity.

The project also included:
• Installation of CCTV cameras for improved security
• A powered network splitter installed in the loft to distribute data throughout the property
• New data cabling connected back to the main router on the ground floor
• External CCTV and data cabling protected in galvanised steel conduit for a durable, long-lasting finish

We always look beyond simply making things work. Using galvanised metal conduit instead of plastic helps ensure the installation continues to look professional for years to come, without the warping and deterioration that can occur over time.

Whether it's electrical installations, CCTV, networking or smart home solutions, ELB Glos delivers quality workmanship that's built to last.

Electrical safety restored following a failed EICR.

After an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) identified several issues, we carried out a full programme of remedial works to bring this installation back up to a safe standard.

The work included:
• Upgrading the consumer unit and relocating it closer to the main entrance for easier access in the event of an electrical fault or emergency
• Re-terminating every lighting circuit after discovering the earth conductors had been disconnected
• Replacing outdated, non-fire-rated downlights with modern fire-rated LED downlights
• Removing old halogen GU10 lamps and upgrading to energy-efficient LED lighting

Electrical faults like these often remain hidden until an EICR is carried out, making regular inspections an important part of keeping your home safe.

If you've recently received a failed EICR or need advice on remedial electrical work, get in touch with ELB Glos.

Another extension completed in Cheltenham.

This project transformed several smaller rooms into one large open-plan living space, giving our client the perfect area to relax and entertain family and friends.

As part of the installation we carried out:
• Additional power sockets throughout the new living space
• Fire-rated LED downlights internally and externally
• Dimmer controls with two-way and intermediate switching
• Brushed chrome up/down wall lights
• Installation of a Tado smart wireless thermostat, allowing the heating to be controlled from anywhere via the app
• Underfloor heating manifold installation, removing the need for radiators and creating more usable living space

It's always rewarding to see a project come together from first fix through to completion, especially when working alongside one of our favourite builders. We've been working together since 2023 and continue to deliver quality results for homeowners across Gloucestershire.

Not every air conditioning installation is straightforward.

For this project, we installed another **ElectriQ 10,000 BTU Monoblock Air Conditioner** with built-in Wi-Fi, allowing the customer to control the temperature from anywhere using their smartphone.

The unit was installed over the staircase, making it a more challenging installation than usual. To complete the work safely, we used additional access equipment, carefully protected the customer's home with dust sheets throughout, and used dust extraction while drilling to keep disruption and mess to an absolute minimum.

It's the attention to detail that makes the difference.

If you're considering air conditioning or need a trusted electrician in Gloucester, we'd be happy to help.

Walking into a cool home after a long, hot day? That's exactly what this installation was designed for.

We recently installed an **ElectriQ 10,000 BTU Monoblock Air Conditioner** with built-in Wi-Fi, allowing the customer to switch it on from their phone before they even get home.

As requested, we also installed a dedicated high-level socket outlet to keep the installation neat, practical and ready to use.

A monoblock air conditioner is a great option if you're looking for effective cooling without the need for an external condenser unit.

A Simple Upgrade That Makes a Big Difference
Sometimes it's the smaller electrical upgrades that have the biggest impact.
We recently installed LED strip lighting inside a cupboard, transforming a dark storage space into a bright, practical area that's much easier to use day-to-day.
Whether it's a wardrobe, pantry, utility cupboard or under-stairs storage, integrated lighting makes it easier to find what you need, reduces shadows and adds a clean, modern finish.
LED strip lighting is energy-efficient, discreet and can often be controlled automatically with door sensors or switches for added convenience.
It's a small detail, but one that can make a surprising difference to how a space feels and functions.
If you're renovating your home or looking for ways to improve everyday usability, we'd be happy to discuss the options available.

Planning a Renovation or Self-Build? Don't Forget the Electrics
When planning a renovation, extension or new build, electrical design is often left until later in the project. In reality, it's one of the most important parts to get right from the beginning.
A well-planned electrical installation ensures your property works for the way you live, both now and in the future.
Things to consider include:
• Socket locations and quantity
• Interior and exterior lighting
• Home office requirements
• Kitchen appliances and dedicated circuits
• EV charger provisions
• Garden power and lighting
• Data and network cabling
• Future expansion requirements
Whether your project requires a full rewire, a first fix installation for a new build, or electrical work as part of a major renovation, careful planning can save time, reduce costs and avoid changes later in the build.
At ELB Electrical, we work closely with homeowners, builders and developers throughout Gloucester and the surrounding areas to deliver safe, compliant electrical installations tailored to each project.
If you're planning a renovation, extension or new build and would like advice on the electrical requirements, we'd be happy to help.

Why It's Worth Fixing Small Electrical Issues Early
One of the most common things we hear from customers is, "It's been doing that for months."
Whether it's a socket that's become loose, a light that occasionally flickers, a switch that's stopped working properly or a circuit that trips every now and then, small electrical issues are often easy to ignore when everything still appears to be working.
The reality is that many electrical faults start small and gradually become worse over time. What may have been a simple repair can eventually develop into a more complex fault, resulting in greater inconvenience and higher repair costs.
Addressing issues early can help:
• Maintain the safety of your electrical installation
• Prevent unexpected power loss
• Reduce the risk of further damage
• Avoid more costly repairs in the future
If something doesn't seem quite right with your electrics, it's usually worth getting it checked sooner rather than later.
At ELB Electrical, we provide honest advice and professional electrical services across Gloucester and the surrounding areas.
