Another 4AM emergency call-out 💦🚨
A push-fit Polypipe connection had been installed incorrectly and eventually failed, causing a serious leak above the kitchen.
Water soaked into the ceiling and insulation, making them extremely heavy. The ceiling started bulging under the weight, so the damaged plasterboard and saturated insulation had to be removed to make the area safe and access the leak.
What started with one incorrectly fitted connection resulted in major damage to the ceiling and kitchen below.
⚠️ This is why pipework needs to be installed correctly and properly tested. A small fitting can cause thousands of pounds worth of damage.

⚠️ ONE SMALL FLEXI PIPE. OVER £15,000 OF DAMAGE! 💦🏠

The homeowners were at work when a flexi pipe burst.

By the time they came home, the house was flooded. 😱

The damage was extensive:

❌ Carpets ruined
❌ Furniture damaged
❌ Ceilings and walls affected
❌ Flooring damaged
💷 Over £15,000 worth of damage

And it all started with one small flexible hose.

🔧 Our advice:
Flexi pipes should be inspected at least once a year, ideally as part of your regular home and boiler maintenance.

If you notice rust, corrosion, cracking, bulging or any other signs of deterioration, replace the flexi pipe immediately.

A small preventative repair could save you thousands of pounds in water damage.
