With the new plug in solar becoming legal from the 27th August. There are some considerations to think of first before purchasing.

1: Is your home setup up to current regulations?

Hire a local electrician to carry out an EICR (MOT for electrics) first before installing these DIY solar systems. If your home is not up to current specs, DO NOT add plug in solar to your home.

2: these systems won’t power much around your home.

They are limited to a maximum of 800w. It’s around 3 amps. You’ll likely be able to power your lights in a small home or a few small electrical items.

3: these aren’t approved for exporting to the grid

If you’re looking to earn money by exporting excess power to the grid. These systems are currently not approved through MCS therefore anything you export will be for free to your energy provider. If any at all.

If you’re interested in plug in solar, please make sure you do your research and hire a competent electrical business to carry out the necessary checks first.

Today we had the one and only HRK Electrical install 3 Ring security 4k cameras with 3 collingwood 10w floodlights along with some click scolmore outdoor double socket and switched fused spur! The reason Harry has carried out this work for me will become clear very soon!

Today. We had the pleasure of carrying out some minor works in the well known Will Brown Hair salon in Henlow. We added a few sockets to make life a little easier for the beauticians and stylists to get access to plug points along with changing a dimmer module to a standard rocker switch for the ambient LED lighting. Unfortunately we couldn’t get an exact match to the existing sockets but we got close enough.
