Another Central London office refurbishment completed for a repeat client! ✨

Since announcing in July, our team has delivered the full electrical package in an office that stayed open and in use throughout - a new comms room, new meeting and quiet rooms formed, linear lighting runs set out across the floor and the containment, distribution and infrastructure behind it all.

Last week, Brad and Rhianna headed to Kent for a site survey of a potential warehouse fit-out.

As part of her role as Estimator & Project Coordinator, Rhianna oversees a large amount of our tendering process. Attending these surveys allows her to get a feel for more than the measurements seen on paper, such as where the existing supply is and how much can be reused⚡

Our Mayfair gym fit out is soon to be up and running…🏃‍♀️👟

Working with our repeat client .projects, this is our team doing what they do best – Mitch, Ronnie, Teddy and Tomas – working together across another commercial project in the heart of London.

Our scope includes new lighting, power, fire alarm system, distribution boards and mechanical supplies throughout. Supplies are starting to be energised giving lighting and power – we’re starting to see the first signs of the finished space.

Another school delivered, with Roding Valley's changing rooms now ready for the rest of the autumn term 🏫

Over the summer, we gave them a complete electrical upgrade, led by Loui. Installing new lighting, power, distribution board and ventilation supplies, plus a new accessible toilet and staff control - override switches and key switching so that pupils can't mess around with the lighting!

A fire-destroyed industrial launderette in Portsmouth required an entire new electrical installation - that’s where we stepped in for our repeat client Giles Oliver🤝

Our team restored the site back to its former functioning glory, including a new LV distribution system, lighting and switching along with small power.

Following a slight UKPN delay, Glen has returned this week to liven up the system and complete the final AC installation on site.

Weekly walkaround on the 174,000 sq. ft warehouse fit out with Brad and Josh. Checking quality, going through the snag list and picking up anything that the client wants changing ✅

The building came into use part way through, so we've been working seamlessly around their staff since. We're into the last stretch now and it's looking the part.

⚡🎓 There is no quick way to make an electrician.

College term has started again, and our apprentices are back to splitting their weeks between a classroom and a live site. One teaches the answer. The other teaches what happens when the building does not match the drawing and somebody needs a decision before lunch 🔌

Neither works without the other, and the qualification takes years because the judgement does. Much of that first half happens at Hertford Regional College, where our relationship goes back years - we were there again earlier this year for their apprenticeship evening, with two of our own back in front of the next intake.

To our apprentices, and to everyone returning to study this term, first year or final - we hope it is a good one 💛

⚡🏭 A high bay light is designed for something moving beneath it. A task light is designed for someone who will sit beneath it all day.

Both are in this building 💡

Most of what you have seen from our largest scheme is the part that looks like a warehouse. What is taking shape now is everything else - offices, a canteen, and rooms where the client's own work is finished by hand. Each asks a different question of the same installation, and the racking is the only part of it that repeats 🔌

A warehouse holds product. Most of this building holds people, and people are the part of a specification that cannot be standardised.

⚡📐 A query raised at this table costs nothing. The same query raised on site costs a week, and sometimes a great deal more...

It is why drawings are read properly before anyone is appointed, and why the questions worth asking are asked while the answers are still free.

Most of what decides whether a project runs cleanly happens here, months before the first delivery arrives. Scope understood rather than assumed. Sequence thought through. The details that will not work identified while they are still lines on a page rather than containment already installed 🔌

None of it will ever appear in a photograph of a finished building. A project that runs well rarely does so by luck. It usually means somebody asked the right question long before anyone arrived on site.

⚡🏋️ Nobody has ever joined a gym because of the electrical installation.

But every reason they stay runs through it. Lighting that makes a room worth standing in. Power that holds when every machine on the floor is running at once. Hand dryers that work at six in the morning.

None of it is noticed until it is missing 💡

This is the stage where all of that is decided. Every cable pictured already has a destination, and none of them will be seen again 🔌

Some of this work disappears behind board and is not looked at for years, which is why detection inside a closed void is positioned so it can still be reached and tested throughout the life of the building.

Our Mayfair fit-out continues for a client we have worked alongside across several schemes. The measure of this installation is that nobody who uses the building will ever have reason to think about it.
