Working through the weekend to keep up with demand and make the most of the good weather, as we push to get the exterior work wrapped up before the weather turns.

There’s a lot going into this project, so I’ve brought in a couple of additional decorators to help keep things moving. The lads have been putting in a great shift every day and the progress is really starting to show.

I do enjoy a challenge, especially when it’s something a little different.

I was asked to recreate a design the customer had found on Pinterest, with one simple question…

“Can you do this in our boys’ bedroom?”

Out came the laser level, precision masking tape and plenty of patience. Each colour was carefully applied, allowing adequate drying time between coats to achieve those crisp, razor-sharp lines.

The finishing touch was the scattered spot detail across the white section, which really brings the whole design to life. It softens the bold geometric shapes, adds depth and movement, and ties the whole feature wall together.

Everything is now ready for the electrician to fit the light fittings, sockets and switches before the carpet goes down.

Colours used:
• Farrow & Ball – Green Blue
• Dulux – Ink Wash

All woodwork was finished using the Johnstone’s Water Based Aqua Guard system for a durable, hard-wearing finish.

Bedroom & New En Suite 🏡

Another recently completed project, this time transforming a bedroom and brand-new en suite. I think we can all agree the colour choice in the en suite is absolutely stunning!

The en suite was finished in Farrow & Ball – De Nimes, while the bedroom was decorated in Little Greene – Clay Mid 153.

The skirting boards had previously been painted in a coloured finish, and the door frames were originally varnished, so there was plenty of preparation involved. Everything was thoroughly sanded, correctly primed, undercoated, and then finished in Benjamin Moore Scuff-X in the beautiful off-white shade White Dove.

Choosing White Dove instead of a brilliant white has given the woodwork a much softer, warmer feel, tying everything together perfectly and creating a more homely finish.

Another happy customer, and another transformation completed. 👍🏼

Cinema Room / Snug 🎬

This room has been colour drenched in a stunning shade chosen by the customer – Benjamin Moore Barista.

The ceilings and walls were finished in Benjamin Moore Interior Matte, while all the woodwork was completed in Benjamin Moore Scuff-X Satin.

I genuinely enjoy working with Benjamin Moore paints. They apply beautifully, the finish is excellent, and their range of colours is fantastic.

I’ve since seen the room with all the lighting installed and the big TV in place, and it looks like the perfect spot to switch off and relax. A brilliant transformation, and a great choice of colour by the customer. 👌🏼

“Wow… that really needed that!” 😂

I completed the front of this property last year, and I’m due back soon to start decorating the rear of the house.

When I popped back to quote for the next stage, it was great to see the front still looking as fresh as the day it was finished. 👍🏼

That’s what quality preparation, quality materials, and attention to detail achieve. Looking forward to getting the back of the property looking just as good!

Three bedrooms, three bathrooms, the hallway, lounge, and kitchen area all finished in white.

* Ceilings finished in a flat matt.
* Walls finished in a durable matt.
* All woodwork finished using the Johnstone’s Water Based Aqua Guard system.

This is another property that I’ve previously decorated, so apart from a light sand over every surface, filling a few minor cracks, and dealing with a small water stain, this one ran very smoothly.

The only real challenge was completing it during the heatwave. Being a top-floor apartment, it was more than a little warm! 🥵

Still, I wasn’t going to let that stop me. 💪🏼

Someone asked me the other day what superpower I’d choose if I could have any…

After giving it some serious thought, I think most decorators would agree on this one… 😂

The ability to shrink ourselves down to a few inches tall and simply roll off skirting boards, leaving a perfect finish without ever having to get down on our knees!

No aching joints, no awkward positions, just flawless skirting in record time. 🤣

Until that superpower arrives, I’ll have to stick with the old-fashioned way, dusty boys knee pads and a lot of moaning 🎨

Colour drenching is a great way to bring a room together—using the same colour across the walls, woodwork, built in furniture and radiators for a smooth, cohesive finish.

For this bedroom, i finished the ceiling in white and drenched everything else in Farrow & Ball Skimming Stone.
Another one done and dusted, ready for the carpet fitter 👍

Colour trends come and go, but some shades always find their way back into popularity. Elephant’s Breath Farrow & Ball paint is a great example—it’s been a popular choice recently, with several of my latest jobs featuring this colour, and more bookings requesting the same.

On this particular job, the customer wanted a more durable finish and opted for Farrow & Ball Flat Matt paint. From experience, I definitely prefer this over Farrow & Ball Estate Emulsion paint and Farrow & Ball Modern Emulsion paint. It applies smoothly, glides on effortlessly, and leaves a noticeably superior finish.

If you’re set on using Farrow & Ball, I would highly recommend choosing the Flat Matt option for both durability and overall appearance.
