🏡 Making a new-build garden that little bit more usable!

Like a lot of new-build homes, this property came with a pathway around the house… but not much in the way of an actual patio.

The client wanted more usable space without completely changing the existing look, so we extended the original paved area using matching slabs to create a much larger patio for outdoor furniture, entertaining and enjoying the garden. 👌🏼

We also extended the paving into the side area forthe bins, making the whole area feel properly finished.

A relatively simple change that makes a massive difference to how the garden can actually be used! 🔨

🧱 Sometimes the original plan has to evolve…

We originally built this garden wall back in 2021, in the early days of L A Construction! The client wanted a straight run, so we installed a lintel over the existing manhole — keeping access to the drain while ensuring no load was placed directly onto it.

Fast forward a few years and tree roots had found their way into the drainage system. After the tree was removed and the drain repaired, soil began working its way beneath the lintel and onto the path.

So we returned and adapted our original work. 🔨

A section of wall was rebuilt around the manhole, allowing the lintel to sit below ground level and retain everything securely behind it.

We finished it off with blue engineering bricks, giving the wall a solid cap while tying in nicely with the slate chippings. 👌🏼

A small alteration, but a proper long-term solution.

🏡 Another project completed for a returning client!

It’s always a great feeling when a client keeps coming back to us for the next project. 👌🏼

We’ve completed numerous jobs at this property over the years, including building the extension you can see here — and most recently we’ve returned to transform the outside space with this large new patio, wrapping around the extension and creating a brilliant area for entertaining and enjoying the garden.

Seeing the furniture out and the patio already being enjoyed is exactly what it’s all about! 🔨

🧱 It’s what’s underneath that matters!

This patio had suffered from movement and cracked slabs for years. Once we lifted it, it quickly became clear why…

Underneath we found a mixture of old block paving, the previous patio and even soft ground — the newer patio had simply been laid straight over the top with very little preparation.

We stripped it back, created a solid sub-base and relaid the client’s existing slabs, keeping the project within their budget while giving the whole area a new lease of life. 👌🏼

Preparation is everything. You can’t build off hopes and dreams — it has to be solid from the ground up!

The client wanted a safe, solid patio again… I think they ended up with quite a transformation too! 🔨

🚐 You may have spotted us out and about!

A slightly delayed post, but if you haven’t spotted us between projects or out doing site visits since the van had its new look… here it is!

Massive thanks to the lads at Print Matters for getting the design sorted and turned around so quickly. We’re over the moon with how it came out 👌🏼

Even better, it’s already doing its job — we’ve had a couple of new clients get in touch and book work with us after seeing the van outside other projects!

🍻 A New Patio for the Perfect Garden Bar!

We recently completed this new raj blend Indian sandstone patio in front of our client’s summer house/garden bar, creating a much more usable area to sit out and enjoy the space.

While we were there, we also gave the existing patio some attention by grinding out the old joints and fully repointing it, giving it a fresh lease of life and helping tie the different areas of the garden together.

A great example of how you don’t always need to replace everything to completely refresh an outdoor space 👌🏼

• Hard-working and willing to get stuck in
• Reliable, punctual & clean/tidy
• Previous site experience preferred
• Self-employed basis
• UTR number required for CIS deductions

You really do see it all in this trade… 🤦‍♂️😂

We were called in to sort out a drainage issue and couldn’t quite believe what we uncovered.

A plant pot had actually been placed over the drainage pipe and packed out with expanding foam! 🪴😳

Everything was stripped back, the drainage connected properly and a new channel drain installed across the doorway.

Sometimes you’ve just got to see it to believe it! 😂
