📌 Stock update

Fact 📍 The largest pumpkin we grew this year weighs a whopping 48 kilograms! 💪🏻

ℹ️ The last of the giant pumpkins are now available, if you want one, do not wait as they are selling fast💨 We are asking a set donation for the XL pumpkins due to the time and effort they take to grow. They are excellent for eating & carving! 🎃 👻

🐓 ⬇️
I have one Buff Orpington cockerel available, he is 8 months and is ready for hens. He has had a throwback gene which has caused him to have yellow legs which is not to a show standard (why I’m selling) other than that he is perfect to the standard, and is absolutely stunning! He is handled every day, he’s large docile, placid & loves a cuddle! Please see below for pictures & message for price.

🌹 Last cut flowers of the year this week, they’ve done really great up until now but are all tired out now. 😮‍💨 💤

Beetroot still going strong and are super delicious.

Parsnips are now sweetening due to the frost!

Chicken & quails eggs available as usual.

Have a lovely week! The pumpkins are waiting for you 👀 ✅

🌹 Pictures bellow are some of the plants, veg, flowers and chickens from the summer months.

📌 Please message me if you’d like anything reserved 😊

The produce is now readily available on the table, it’s a donation unless otherwise stated.

I pride myself on quality which is what you will find on the table. Pop down early morning or late afternoon to get the freshest of the fresh!

📌 Here’s a little tip for those who buy my eggs; the eggs are always unwashed (as it’s illegal to sell washed eggs in the uk) which prolong their lives. During hot weather it’s recommended to store eggs in a cool dark place - Not a fridge as this causes the protective bloom to break causing a shorter life.

‼️ Keeping Chickens cool in hot weather ‼️

☀️ Given the extreme heat at the moment, your hens will certainly be struggling, this is a short guide that I’ve written to help your hens beat the heat.

Chickens get heat stress quickly, this can cause them to go off lay for weeks at a time. In severe cases death.

📌 Provide dust baths, hens will naturally dig these or you can provide sand & soil for those that don’t have access to the outdoors.

📌 Electrolytes, these can be bought to add to water or can be made at home using; 3 tbsp sugar, 1/2 tbsp salt & 1 tablespoon of natural Honey to give your hens a boost ☀️

📌 Shallow drinking trays. Chickens expel heat through there comb and feet so by letting them stand in cool water they can cool quickly.

📌 Ice blocks, you want to avoid treats like corn & whole grains as this increases internal body temperature. Instead freeze berries in ice which is an engaging activity for hens to peck at.

📌 Frozen Bottles. During hot nights I always freeze water bottles to slip into the coops at night. This can lower the temperature in the coop by several degrees.

Stay cool everyone ☀️ 💧
