An absolute jewel of a sofa!

On my last post I shared the before pictures of this much loved sofa, and now (finally!) you get to see just how amazingly worthwhile it is to take something you love and upholster it.

The sofa was striped back and sections of foam were replaced that had perished. I also added extra padding to the tops of the arms as the boxy look of the previous linen cover needed to be softened for this velvet to really shine.

The original inspiration for the big colour change on the sofa came from this clients painting on the mantelpiece, mixing colours and hues in this lovely muted tone to complement collected furniture and treasures.

Recovered in the most glorious crushed velvet from in shade damson.
And huge thanks to Cushion Supplier for making the most enormous feather and foam seat cushions!

Bonus that the cats have already made themselves at home 😬

When you love something why would you let it go?

Yes, you can purchase a new sofa for the price of upholstering it but will you get that same level of comfort? Will it fit your home perfectly like your old one did? And these days, let’s face it, will it actually last as long as your old one has?

We’ve become so throwaway with our furniture, it’s estimated that 4 million sofas a year are disposed of. This blows my mind 🤯 why, why, why are we doing this?

Luckily this lovely customer (and her cats!) loved her old sofa so much so, it’s crossed countries with her. We had a good chat about what she wanted her new sofa to look like; inspiration was drawn from a print that sat on the mantelpiece and she lived with some fabric options for a little while before settling on the most jewel like shade.

I can’t wait to share the finished piece with you šŸ’œ

This one’s giving me all the retro 70’s vibes with an injection of under the sea! I’m thinking a gorgeously huge sofa covered in the fabulous coral design velvet and then multiple cushions layered up in both the chevron fabrics and a chunky coffee table footstool in the very trendy Helter skelter stripe!

Acropora in Brazilian Rosewood/Nectar

Helter Skelter in Grape

Jaipur in Cranberry

Do love maximalist interior inspiration or should next week’s mood board be softer and maybe focus more on textures?

As promised here are the pictures of the beautiful bespoke bench by Melissa Woods of Woods Garden Design in her stunning home.

Bold colours, interesting textures and the layering of fabrics have all helped to create a stunning interior that is perfectly complimented by the addition of this bespoke bench I recently upholstered.

I love the maximalist style of her home, would you be this brave with colour?

What do you do when you can’t find the perfect upholstered bench for your space? You have one made of course! The very talented Melissa Woods of Woods Garden Design created a fabric that was printed locally by she used a carpenter to build a base from mostly reclaimed pieces of wood and then brought all of this to me to bring the final vision to life!

This was actually delivered a few weeks ago but I am once again playing social media catch up šŸ™„ just wait until you see how spectacular the room is that it gets to live in!

Having chatted with so many lovely people at yesterday’s event I know for a fact that your homes are filled with brave and bold interiors, collected and curated to explore your personality in your home.

And for that reason alone I’ve gone for a zingy collection of fabrics this week! I’m thinking a statement sofa in the oh so trendy Linwood fabric of burgundy’s and oranges. A show stopper of an armchair in the glorious Temperley London collaboration (swipe to see the full pattern in all its glory). Both with the woven orange as scatter cushions and an elegant Roman blind in the silky greens and blues.

Would you be brave enough to use these fabrics in your home?

Tomorrow is the very first time Uncovered Interiors will be available for you to shop! We are at the Hempstead Summer Fayre so please come along and say hello šŸ‘‹šŸ»

I had this crazy idea at the beginning of the year that I wanted to push myself and my business to bigger places. I absolutely love upholstery, it will always be my main focus, but I do also love all things home and so I’ve decided to start mixing these two passions together. Perhaps slightly over eager I signed up for my first event with zero stock to my name šŸ™ˆ but nothing like a deadline to push you!!! I’ve worked every hour I could possibly squeeze in between upholstering, trawled through a lot of crap and lost many a night of sleep! All to try and pull together a collection of beautiful items for you to shop, and with the addition of my mum we are now a team of two hoping to bring you the most wonderful selection of homewares that are going to add personality and soul in to your home.

We want to help you uncover the home you’ve always wanted.

This is just a small selection of what will be on offer, and don’t worry if you can’t make it to Hempstead you can always contact us and we can post an item to you!

The start of something beautiful for this built in kitchen banquette seat.

First stage has been completed with custom built fixed upholstery seats. As the length is so long on one side it’s been split in to two cushions with a lovely crisp mitred corner. Even just this small addition has meant a big change for family meals. Later this year we will return to install a fluted back. I can’t wait!

Introducing colour and pattern in to your home doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be smothered everywhere, creating space between patterns by just having an accent sofa and a pair of curtains creates a calmer interior that still has plenty of personality.

Just imagine a lovely statement sofa in the harlequin fabric with a scattering of the neutral toned cushions. Maybe a chunky coffee table footstool in the polka dot and the fabulously floral and foliage orange as a window treatment. Divine!

Arzu in shade tamarind

Zellige in shade ivory

Momentum 3 Polka (discontinued)

Fable in shade tomato (discontinued)
