Another project completed - and another step in our ever-growing involvement in the UK's expanding padel and leisure sector.
In Northwood, we've delivered electrical services for a new facility featuring 4 padel courts and 3 pickleball courts, bringing together two sports that are seeing significant growth across the UK.
Padel has gone from a relative niche to a mainstream leisure offering at remarkable speed. LTA figures show that 860,000 adults and juniors played padel in Britain during 2025, more than double the previous year's figure.
Pickleball is now following a similar trajectory. Combining elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis, its accessibility and social nature are attracting a growing audience.
For Metelec, this growth has translated into a huge rollout of our own.
From individual court installations to larger multi-court developments, the team has now delivered electrical solutions across multiple sites nationally, working with a growing number of health clubs, leisure facilities and sports operators.
Every facility brings its own requirements - lighting and intelligent controls, power, heating, distribution, as well as wider electrical and mechanical needs.
We always enjoy collaborating on meeting the specific needs of a client with their courts, and look forward to delivering more indoor and outdoor spaces for these rapidly growing sports!
