☀️🔥 WHY ARE YOUR RADIATORS COMING ON IN THE SUMMER?

It’s 25°C outside, your heating is switched off… so why are your radiators getting warm? 🥵

One common cause is a faulty or sticking motorised valve.

Motorised valves control where the hot water goes within your central heating system. When one starts to fail, it can sometimes allow hot water to flow through your radiators even when your heating is turned off.

You might notice:

🔧 Radiators getting warm when the heating is off
🔥 Heating coming on when it shouldn't
💧 Hot water working but the heating behaving strangely
⚠️ A motorised valve that’s buzzing, clicking or not responding properly

It’s a problem we see regularly, particularly during the summer when the central heating isn't being used.

⚠️ Gas Leak – Do You Know What To Do?

A quick but important reminder for homeowners…

If you ever smell gas in your home, it’s important to act quickly and safely.

🚨 What to do immediately

• Turn off the gas supply at the meter (if it’s safe to do so)
• Open doors and windows to ventilate the property
• Avoid using electrical switches, plugs, or naked flames
• Get everyone out of the property

📞 Call the National Gas Emergency number: 0800 111 999

They are available 24/7 and will attend to make the situation safe.

❗ **Do NOT:**
• Turn lights on or off
• Use mobile phones inside the property
• Try to fix the issue yourself

Once the emergency services have made everything safe, a Gas Safe registered engineer can then carry out any necessary repairs.

It’s something you hopefully never need — but knowing what to do can make a big difference.

Quick question for homeowners…

Do you know where your main water stopcock is???

It’s something most people don’t think about — until there’s a leak or a burst pipe and water is going everywhere.

Your stopcock is what allows you to shut off the water supply to your home in an emergency, and knowing where it is can save a lot of damage and stress.

In most homes it’s usually found:
• Under the kitchen sink
• In a cupboard near the front door
• Under the stairs
• In a utility room
• Sometimes near where the water pipe enters the property

If you’ve recently moved house, it’s definitely worth taking a couple of minutes to locate it and check that it actually turns.
