Battery storage system fitted 🔋 ✅

Not everyone has a roof suitable for solar panels, some people don’t like the look of them. This customer opted to just have battery storage fitted to their property, which they can charge up on their cheap night time rate of 5p/Kwh, then use that energy during the day.

The customer sourced their own equipment on this job, we carried out all required checks to ensure it is listed on the ENA type test register and all above board for installation.

The system is an absolute powerhouse, consisting of a 6Kw Zonergy hybrid inverter and a massive 30Kwh of battery storage.

The inverter has MPPT inputs so can accept solar panels if the customer decides to have them fitted at a later date.

All installed, commissioned and running in a day.

🚙 EV charger installation 🔌

Last week, we attended a property in Cromford to install an EV charger, this installation was a bit more in depth than normal as the main part of the property is grade 2 listed, therefore it took a bit more planning to ensure the installation complies.

The customer opted for an Ohme ePod charger due to its compatibility with Octopus’s agile tariffs, also because of the in built 4G SIM card, meaning there’s no need for a reliable WiFi connection.

We also used the install as an opportunity to try out one of Fusebox’s new pink SPD boards, the new surge protection module doesn’t require an MCB, meaning it can’t accidentally be turned off.

Another week, another solar install.

This week we have been in Kegworth, installing this beautiful Sigenergy system.

The customer opted for 16 x 450W bi facial panels, optimisers, mesh guarding and an 8Kw Sigenergy system, complete with a massive 16Kwh of storage.

All installed, commissioned and generating free electricity, and in a few weeks once the handover pack is ready, the customer will be paid for whatever they export back to the grid.

All of our solar PV installations come with full MCS paperwork as required for the SEG payback scheme.

Did you know that contrary to beliefs, not all standard socket outlets are suitable for charging EV cars with the use of trickle chargers?

The British standard “BS1363/2” states that a socket outlet that is to be used for the charging of an EV must be manufactured and tested to a higher standard, and must be marked EV on the rear of the charger next to the BS stamp.

In addition, the socket outlet must only be a single gang, be on its own dedicated circuit, have type A and type B RCD protection and must have either O-PEN fault protection or an earth rod installed.

Standard outdoor or indoor sockets are not suitable for EV charging and should not be used.

Sigenergy system installed ✅

This system was installed for one of our repeat customers who contacted us after discovering we provide solar PV services. After meeting up with them to discuss their requirements and taking a look at another proposal provided by a different contractor, they opted for a Sigenergy 8kw inverter, 16Kwh battery (we are returning to site to install the second battery soon) and 16 450W bi facial panels, complete with SolaSkirt bird proofing.

❌ incorrectly installed solar ☀️

One of our regular customer recently asked us to take a look at their solar PV system as it was seemingly underperforming. It was the first time we’d taken a close look at the system, and what we found was shocking.

The installation has been installed to an extremely poor standard, with cables just lay on the roof and walkways, the generation meter terminals being accessible without removing any covers, and then to put the icing on the cake, one bank of solar panels were not even connected up due to a fault on the string.

The 50Kw system was peaking at around 25Kw, they should now expect to generate a figure closer to their installed capacity.

The importance of vetting contractors before choosing one to install solar PV is essential, DC electricity generated my the array is more dangerous than what your house runs on.

These cables lay across the floor have around 1000V DC of potential per string, there’s 11 strings in total.

☀️ Solar PV installed⚡️

Today, we have completed another PV installation in Chellaston, this system has been tailor designed to best suit the customers demand. The system was designed with the chimney in mind, utilising optimisers to ensure the system performs at its peak.

The customer opted for a SunSynk 5Kw hybrid inverter, with 10Kwh of battery storage, giving them plenty of capacity to store surplus energy generated by the array during the day, to then power the house through the night.

As for the panels, we installed 10 x 450W bi facial modules giving them 4.5Kwp.

All installed, commissioned and generating in 1 week.

Once completed, the final handover pack will be taken to site, complete with a wall mounted document holder to ensure safe keeping.
