The sun was shining on Saturday so it was the perfect day to give this Chesneys Salisbury some extra attention for a customer 😎

When they moved in, they found the stove had some liquid spilt down it which had caused some rust to form on the door!

Don't worry.. Dave to the rescue! 🦸

After a thorough sweep of the chimney, I stripped the door down, gave it a fresh coat of Chesneys paint, new glass, glass gasket and clips then a new door rope and lubricated the door latch and adjusted to suit 👌 scroll to the end to see that end result - good as new! ✨🔥

This old Franco Belge Montfort was inspected earlier in the week and found to be in an unfit state for use! Installed in 2006, it's certainly seen some action but unfortunately the old optional back boiler routing blanks were falling off meaning dangerous fumes could leak out from the back as seen in the video at the end 👀

Replacements could be sourced but given by the time it's all pulled out to fix on a 20 year old flue liner and it needs a couple of other parts, the customer has decided it's due an upgrade so is seeking a new installation for the winter 🔥

Stove checks to keep you safe are vital as well as regular sweeping I found the old cap under the stove and the customer was unaware but now very thankful this has been caught early in the season and no carbon monoxide leaks have been allowed to escape into the home over the winter!

Di lusso r5 inset stove having a much needed sweep and service today. I think that definitely needed doing 😅 all bricks removed and cleaned, air control cassette removed and cleaned out, glass clean and smoke test and it's ready bang on time for a wet and windy autumn friday afternoon 🔥 🍂

Time flies.. When you're removing soot! My lovely wife surprised me with the yearly cupcakes to celebrate another year for my small business ☺️ I had totally forgotten as I'm currently caught up in a whirlwind of enquiries and extremely long working hours! Today was the first day of the week I've made it home in daylight hours after completing a couple of 12 hours days 😬

Apologies for delays in getting back to people as days are booked back to back but I'm trying my hardest and my admin is taking up all my evenings as some of you may tell from the time of my replies 😅 email is the best method as I can reply late evening and early morning so unfortunately there is a backlog on the voicemails but I will get back to you

Also apologies for that darn cat who loves to shout whenever I'm on the phone 😂

I recently carried out an extensive service and sweep on this Stovax & Gazco studio 1 stove. The old bricks were cracked and in need of replacement as well as a warped upper metal baffle that was putting pressure on the firebricks!
After a sweep and thorough hoover through, the new replacement parts were installed as well as clearing out the log guard support tubes which had a big build up of ash in them making the bar sit wonky.. Not anymore

Doesn't it look much better 👌 all in time for the autumn when the weather gets colder 🍁🍂🔥

Saturday morning finds - At first glance this hearth looks fine right?..

When you book me for a sweep and inspection, I do an extremely thorough check and this shows why!

The decorative front heath must be layed over a solid constructional heath not just sitting on a wooden floor! I've heard first hand from someone who's been to a house fire where the wooden floor has ignited under the hearth from high heat temperature! This fireplace was used previously as it is! 😬

Luckily this home owner now has this information to get the hearth fitted to building regs before any thing nasty happens. All it takes is a hot ember to fall down the gap onto timber and it can smoulder away igniting the floor!

Some of my posts may not always be exciting 😅 but just showing always book a professional to look after your fireplace!
