Today, the RS Pest Control team is in Southampton carrying out a full bed bug heat treatment in a five-bedroom HMO.

THE LIFE CYCLE OF A FLEA

Did you know that the adult fleas you see are only a small part of the infestation?

A flea’s life cycle has four stages:

1. Eggs – Laid on the animal before falling into carpets, bedding and furniture.
2. Larvae – These hatch and hide deep within carpets, floorboards and other dark areas.
3. Pupae – Fleas develop inside a protective cocoon and can remain dormant for several months.
4. Adult fleas – Heat, movement and carbon dioxide can trigger them to emerge and find a host.

This is why simply treating your pet may not solve the problem. A successful flea treatment must target the property as well as ensuring that every pet receives suitable veterinary flea treatment.

Inside one of the bedrooms we’re treating for bed bugs today.

Before starting the heat treatment, we spread the contents of the room out as much as possible. This allows the heated air to circulate properly and reach the areas where bed bugs and their eggs may be hiding.

Good preparation, careful temperature monitoring and thorough treatment all help us achieve our goal: a bedbug-free property.

We’re still hard at work at Camberley Heath Golf Club, installing the new safety netting.

Unfortunately, the wind hasn’t been playing ball and has caused a few delays, but we’re now hoping to have the work completed by Monday.

We’ve also had to carefully remove a tree limb to ensure the netting could be fitted securely and safely.

A challenging job, but the team is making great progress!

We’re back at Camberley Heath Golf Club, continuing with the installation of the new safety netting.

Strong winds have delayed us by around a week, but the weather is finally on our side. We’re hoping to have everything completed by Friday, 4 September, allowing the golfers to return to their normal tees.

A big thank you to everyone at the club for their patience while we complete the work.
