Hope you’re all having a fantastic weekend. A beautiful bit of detail mitring a five sided bay roof in slates. Should be finished Monday 💪🏻 so more photos next weekend 😁

A lot of people would ridge it but the mitring of the slates makes the roof look great and I love the attention to detail. Although it’s slow progress, it’s much nicer to finish a job that you’re proud of than rush it to make a few extra quid and have no passion for the finish.

Will soon be finished this roof and on to the next one, horrible start with the spray foam insulation removal but the last few days have been lovely laying slates 😁

Oh! And I hit the 10s dead on at howdens timer! Free screws for me, made my day!

Progressing nicely on the slate re-roof.

Taken longer than usual with removing the spray foam insulation but the slates are going back on and the timbers can now breathe.

The amount of extra rubbish created from removing all the spray foam and having to dispose of the slates and the batten due to spray foam insulation contamination is horrible but necessary.

Spray foam insulated roof!!! 🙄💩

Getting a mortgage with spray foam insulation installed in the loft can be impossible. The spray foam sticks to the back of the slates, the battens and the rafters causing no airflow. This creates moisture on the rafters and can cause them to deteriorate, hence why the banks and mortgage lenders don’t want to lend against a house that’s roof may be damaging itself and need completed renewal including the timber work if left unresolved.

We are only a few days in but the removal of the old roof is taking a lot longer with everything being stuck together and the extra waste of the foam and have to clean the rafters. None of the slates are salvageable as they’re so well stuck to the foam. The battens aren’t burnable because of the foam contamination.

By the time we are finished it will be a beautiful, breathable roof and will last decades more 💪🏻😁

This roof was less than 0.5m2 but they’re always big enough to cause water ingress.

The timber was exposed for a long time and was rotten as a pear. We replaced with 18mm osb timber then added another layer to make sure the drips did not interfere with the opening of the top windows.

Finished in a rubber EPDM covering and then lead in to the wall. Looks 100 times better than the original and the customer now has peace of mind with a 10 year guarantee and can rest easy.

This verge had no overhang, and a broken tile, needless to say this was creating water ingress into the customers conservatory.

We removed the verge and extended the tiles and ridge an extra 50mm to allow for the correct overhang. We changed the broken tile and installed under cloak and cemented it all back in.

Looks great and has stopped any chance of water ingress.💪🏻

New GRP Fibreglass roof installed this week in Harwich in this fantastic weather!

We removed the old loose stones, bitumen and old boards. It only had 25mm insulation in the cavity so we upgraded that to 100mm. We then installed 18mm OSB board over the top and box in a soil pipe that was just protruding above the roof deck.

Installed the premium roofing resin with fibreglass strand matting and finished in the grey top coat paint. Job looks very smart and another roof with a 10 year guarantee!

A small repair at U.K. blending limited (Gorse Lane industrial estate) turned in to a new small rubber roof this week as the bitumen had holes in, the timbers were rotten and the board was made from straw! 😱 The new roof made perfect economic sense rather than repair after repair.

After replacing the rotten rafters, we insulated and re-boarded with 18mm OSB and finished with Rubber EPDM and code 4 lead in to the wall.

Looks fantastic and comes with a 10 year guarantee 💪🏻😁 and we got two complimentary bottles of poshsauceuk - which are delicious 🤤
