It is sometimes said that gales are Mother Nature's way of pruning weak and diseased trees and branches. Storm Henry has left more valued trees down in our region. This may not be the largest tree in the world but it certainly required Tipi Tree Care's full attention. The tree is situated on a bank to the side Honley Railway Station, not far from Holmfirth & Huddersfield. The railway line is to the rear of the tree. As you can see from the photos there are buildings either side together , power lines and a mobile phone mast. [ 101 more words. ]

It is more difficult to spot the symptoms of Ash Die Back while the tree is dormant. The Tree Council , which is the UK's lead charity for trees, promoting their importance in a changing environment, has published a guide to spotting Ash Die back during the winter months. The guide includes photos of the characteristic diamond shaped lesions you often read about.
