Perfect weather for the team to rootball a couple of magnificent specimen multi-stem Prunus ‘The Bride’s ready for planting at one of our projects. One of our favourite trees. They look stunning and we can’t wait to see them settle into their new home. 😊

Last week, we were admiring this absolutely stunning crab apple tree in Somerset. We loved its wide spreading canopy, gnarled branches and beautiful blossom. The morning light made it look even more magical, so we took a few photos to remember it by before the blossom faded away. We hope you like it as much as we did! 😊 💚

These stunning Carpinus betulus ‘Frans Fontaine’ (upright hornbeam) make a great architectural statement - even in winter (particularly against the recent blue winter skies here at !)

Their classic uniformity and tight pyramidal shape make them an excellent choice for avenue planting, and the narrow form makes them an ideal choice for restricted spaces too. These versatile trees work well as standalone specimens as well as for screening. Together with their adaptability to different soil types and growing conditions it’s not hard to understand why they are one of our favourite trees!

As you can see, we have plenty of fine-looking specimens here at ready for new homes and upcoming projects.

Euonymus Alatus Compactus - putting on a stunning display of rosy-red fiery autumn foliage here at . It’s a real showstopper and a great choice if you are looking to add a fabulous burst of autumnal colour. Its low dome and compact form make for a great structural addition to any garden and make it one of our favourite choices too.

We have some stunning specimens for sale at tree HQ – approximately 130cm in height and some over 180cm wide. Please get in touch for further details.

It was great to revisit the elm woodland project we helped design and plant earlier in the year for Ian as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy scheme. You can see how some of the trees have really grown over the last six months. So good to be part of a project reintroducing elms, resistant to Dutch Elm Disease back to the UK! The newly planted elms will be sharing the 2-hectare site with a mix of native trees to boost biodiversity.

Out of all the woven wooden planters we built this year for our installation at the Glastonbury festival the love heart was our favourite and we wanted to share a few images of it coming to life.

It was really good to get creative with the twisted hornbeam coppiced from here at the farm at . Forming it into a love heart was an enjoyable process – a real labour of love. When filled with trees grown here at it became even more special.

If you want to bring a little bit of love to a special event you may have and would like to hire our planters and trees, please get in touch.

Spread the love ❤️

It was great to have the opportunity to showcase our woven wooden planters, trees and naturalistic woodland style planting in the Park at Glastonbury Festival this year. Thank you to .uk at Humblewell for inviting us.

Seeing our planters on site at the greatest show on earth, filled with native trees grown here at TreeHQ made all the long hours and hard work worthwhile.

At the start of the process it wasn’t always clear what the end result was going to be as the planters started to take shape and take on a life of their own mainly led by the natural twisted characteristics of the hornbeam.

If you have a special event and are looking for trees and something a bit special and unusual, please get in touch.

Our next post will focus on our favourite planter - the love heart.

Earlier this year Jason embraced his love of natural materials and took time out of his busy schedule to create a stunning set of woven wooden planters from hornbeam coppiced here at the farm. A big thank you to Ian and his team at The Pop Up Farm for supplying us with this fantastic material to work with.

We wanted to share a little insight in to how these came together. It was great to work with not only one of our favourite trees but to also get fully immersed in the characteristic, twisted nature of hornbeam. This was not a process that could be rushed, but it was incredibly rewarding!

We will share their journey to the greatest show on earth in our next post…

It was great to be involved in the supplying and planting of an English Oak Tree today for St George’s School in Harpenden in celebration of King Charles III Coronation. Over the years tree planting has become a symbolic representation of continuity and hope within the Royal Family and is an excellent way to bring people together, making a difference one tree at a time.

Great to pop in to see how this newly planted elm woodland is establishing. An amazing project to be involved with. A big thank you to Ian and the Thrales End and team for asking us to be involved with the design and planting of a new 2 hectare elm woodland for the Queen’s Green Canopy scheme.

We were excited from the outset to hear Ian’s vison for planting a new woodland of disease resistant elms mixed with native trees. Elm trees were a big part of the British landscape before their decimation from Dutch Elm Disease in the 1970s. Elm trees often seem to be overlooked and dismissed as a viable option when designing and planting a new woodland. However, following specialist breeding programmes there are now several new hybrids which show a strong resistance to the disease. It would be great to see elms more widely incorporated into planting schemes as they are a stunning, strong growing tree. To see them make a comeback and be part of the British landscape once more would be fantastic.

We look forward to seeing this woodland grow and develop over the coming years.
