🪵 Opportunity: Experienced Bench Joiner / Cabinet Maker – Harlow, Essex

Cluett Carpentry is looking for a skilled Bench Joiner / Cabinet Maker to join me on a range of projects. I specialise in bespoke joinery and cabinetry for boats. The work is varied — take a look at my page and website. No boat experience required.

I'm looking for someone who is competent, neat, and efficient, and who can work independently from the outset.

It's a relaxed but professional working environment, based in a large, modern, well-equipped workshop in Harlow — shared with several other businesses producing high-end custom work.

What I'm Looking For

✅ Highly proficient with both solid timber and sheet materials
✅ Fully confident operating: Panel Saw, Planer, Thicknesser, Spindle Moulder, Mortiser, Tenoner and Drum Sander
✅ Able to work independently from drawings and, ideally, 3D models
✅ Reliable, professional, and takes pride in their work

The Details

💷 Rate: £25–£30 per hour — self-employed basis. Higher rates genuinely considered for the right person.
🕗 Hours: 8 hours per day.
📍 Location: Harlow workshop, with occasional site visits for fitting
📅 Start: ASAP
⏳ Availability: 1–3 weeks per month initially, with the possibility of a more permanent role as work grows.

I really enjoyed making this. Solid oak throughout, including the panels. It'll be getting spray finished in a clear coat lacquer and then it's off to it's forever home
