It’s with great sadness we share the news that Steve Oakes died this weekend - leaving behind a family who will miss him dearly.
CF Oakes was founded in 1958 by Steve’s father, Charlie Frederick Oakes. Back then, CF Oakes proudly had the plumbing and heating contract for the homes when Harlow New Town was built.
We still have customers come into our showroom and office in Wych Elm recounting tales of the jobs we completed for them 40-50 years ago.
While pottering around in the office yesterday we found newspaper articles dating way-back, and plumbing and heating manuals dating back to 1947.
Two of Steve’s sons, Tom and Sam, who have worked for the family business for 30 years and 20 years, carry on the family legacy and tradition and proudly lead the 3rd generation of the family business.
