Another full roofing project successfully completed by Jay’s Roofworks Ltd ✅

This roof had developed a significant dip to one side due to a failing roof structure, so before carrying out the roofing works, we addressed the underlying structural issue properly.

🔨 STRUCTURAL REPAIRS
The affected section was carefully stripped back and the failing structure was repaired. We installed new rafters and securely locked the structure into position, providing the roof with much-needed additional strength, stability and support. 💪🏠

Once the structure was made secure, we continued with the full roofing works:

We’ve started by stripping all the existing ridge tiles and removing the old, deteriorated cement 🧱❌. We’re then installing a brand-new dry ridge system, providing a secure, durable and low-maintenance finish for years to come. 🏠✅

The side roof area has a noticeable dip, so rather than simply covering up the problem, we’re stripping the full section back and putting the roof right from the structure upwards. 🔧👷🏼‍♂️

🏡✨ Another successful roof repair completed on this beautiful Victorian property in Hereford! ✨🏡

This traditional slate roof is over 120 years old and was originally designed without roofing felt, relying on the slate system itself to keep the property watertight. The homeowner has lived in the property for around 50 years and has only recently experienced leaks due to missing and slipped slates. 🌧️🏠

🔨 Our team carried out repairs across the entire roof, including:
✅ Replacing numerous damaged and missing slates
✅ Securing slipped slates back into their correct positions
✅ Sealing and waterproofing 3 lead valleys to prevent water ingress 💧
✅ Replacing rotten timber battens where required to provide a strong fixing point for the slates

In one area where several slates had been lost, we found the existing battens had deteriorated and become rotten. We replaced these with new timber battens, ensuring the slates are securely fixed and the roof remains protected for years to come. 🔩🏡

Today we carried out a full ridge and chimney upgrade to improve both the appearance and long-term performance of this roof. 💪

✅ We carefully removed all the old cement-bedded ridge tiles and cleared away the deteriorated mortar ridges that had begun to show signs of age and weathering.

✅ We then installed a brand-new Dry Ridge System, providing a stronger, more secure, and maintenance-friendly solution. Dry ridge systems offer improved ventilation throughout the roof space while helping to reduce the risk of future mortar failure, making them a popular modern roofing upgrade. 🏡💨

✅ We also repaired the chimney by removing the damaged and worn chimney crown and replacing it with a newly formed concrete chimney crown. Another successful roofing repair completed by Jay’s Roofworks Ltd 🔨✅

Today we attended a property where a small section of the roof had been suffering from a leak. After carefully stripping back the affected area, we inspected the roof structure and found the battens were still in good condition. We then installed new roofing felt, correctly lapped and secured it into place, before reinstating the existing slates to ensure the roof was fully weatherproof once again. 🌧️➡️☀️

We also carried out additional repairs across the roof by replacing several damaged and worn slates with new matching slates, helping to improve both the appearance and protection of the roof. 🏡✨

To complete the job, we removed and replaced two cracked and decayed concrete chimney crowns, installing new concrete crowns to help protect the chimneys from future water ingress and weather damage. 🧱🔧

A great result all round, leaving the roof secure, watertight, and ready to withstand the elements. 💪🌦️

We’re pleased to share another completed roofing project with our followers! 📸 From start to finish, here are the results of today’s transformation.

✅ Work Carried Out:

🔹 Thoroughly cleaned and prepared the ridge line area to ensure a solid foundation for the new installation.

A great little repair completed today for a customer who had noticed water coming into their property around the chimney. 🌧️💧

After carrying out a thorough inspection, we quickly identified the cause of the problem. The existing concrete chimney crown had become cracked and heavily weathered over time, allowing water to pe*****te the chimney structure and find its way into the property. 🚨

🔎 What We Found:
❌ Cracked and deteriorated concrete crown.
❌ Damaged roofing felt around the rear of the chimney.
❌ Water ingress around the chimney area causing an active leak.

🛠️ Work Completed:

✅ Carefully stripped back the roof covering around the rear of the chimney to fully investigate the issue.

✅ Removed the damaged and failed felt and installed new roofing felt, ensuring it was correctly dressed and extended right up to the lead flashing for maximum weather protection.

✅ Reinstalled all roof tiles securely back into position.

✅ Installed a brand-new concrete chimney crown to replace the cracked and decayed original crown.

✅ Checked the surrounding area to ensure everything was watertight and protected against future leaks.

A project we completed recently but never got around to sharing! 📸

Our team at Jay's Roofworks Ltd was called out to carry out a partial chimney rebuild and a range of repair works to ensure the property remained structurally sound and fully protected from the elements. 🌦️

✅ Work Completed:

🧱 Partial Chimney Rebuild
We carefully dismantled the damaged sections of the chimney and carried out a partial rebuild using new materials to restore its strength, stability, and appearance.

🏗️ New Concrete Crown & Chimney Cap
A brand-new concrete crown was installed along with a new chimney cap/crown to help prevent water pe*******on and protect the chimney from future weather damage.

🔨 Wall Repointing
The existing mortar joints along the rear wall had deteriorated over time, so we ground out all loose and damaged mortar before professionally repointing the entire wall using a high-quality lime mortar, allowing the brickwork to breathe while providing a strong and long-lasting finish.

🧱 Brickwork Repairs
The lower section of the wall had suffered from wear and damage, so we rebuilt the affected area with new bricks before carefully repointing to blend seamlessly with the existing structure.

💧 New Lead Flashing Installation
Where the flat roof meets the wall, we installed new lead flashing to create a watertight seal and help prevent future water ingress.

🏠 Fire Wall Repairs
We also repaired and restored the small dividing fire wall between the customer's property and the neighbouring property, ensuring it was secure and weatherproof.

🎨 Wall Re-Rendering
