🏠 WATER INGRESS & BRICKWORK REPAIRS 💧
This customer had recently purchased her first home, but after moving in, she discovered a worrying amount of water sitting underneath the kitchen floorboards.
After keeping an eye on the situation, she noticed that the problem became significantly worse whenever it rained, with large puddles of water forming underneath the property. She contacted us to investigate.
On inspection, we discovered the brickwork around the affected area was contributing to the problem. There were broken and perished bricks, severely deteriorated pointing and areas where the original pointing was virtually non-existent.
Once we started the work, we uncovered another issue. At some point, concrete had been laid tight against the building, restricting the area and contributing to the water being held against the brickwork. This had to be carefully removed.
We then:
🔨 Removed the broken and perished bricks
🧱 Removed all loose and failed pointing
🧱 Fully dug out and re-keypointed the brickwork
💧 Applied a breathable, water-resistant damp-proofing treatment
🪨 Added pea gravel to help improve water dispersal and drainage around the affected area
The aim was not simply to cover up the symptoms, but to address the underlying causes of the water ingress and improve the drainage around the property.
Another job completed properly, helping give this homeowner peace of mind in her new home. 🏡
