Transport Scheduler / Skip Dispatcher

Are you an organised, proactive individual with excellent communication skills who thrives in a busy working environment?
Haulaway Ltd is looking for an experienced Transport Scheduler / Skip Dispatcher to join our busy skip hire and waste management operation, based at our Hailsham office in East Sussex.
This is a fast-paced role where you will be responsible for coordinating the daily activities of our skip and RoRo drivers, ensuring customer orders are scheduled efficiently and that deliveries, exchanges and collections are completed on time.
We are looking for someone who can work well under pressure, manage competing priorities and provide excellent customer service.
The Role
Your main responsibilities will include:
* Taking customer orders and arranging skip deliveries, exchanges and collections.
* Planning and managing daily work schedules for a busy team of skip and RoRo drivers operating throughout East Sussex.
* Coordinating driver workloads and ensuring routes are organised efficiently.
* Liaising with customers to confirm bookings, provide updates and resolve any scheduling issues.
* Responding to customer enquiries and managing changes to daily schedules.
* Ensuring all jobs are accurately recorded and communicated to drivers.
* Assisting with weighbridge operations when required.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
* Experience in transport scheduling, dispatching or a similar logistics role.
* Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads in a busy office.
* Strong communication and customer service skills.
* The ability to work under pressure and think on your feet.
* Good IT skills and confidence using computer-based systems.
* A flexible, positive attitude and the ability to work as part of a team.
**Experience in the waste management industry would be an advantage but is not essential**, as full training will be provided to help you develop your knowledge of the waste industry and our operations.
Experience operating a weighbridge would also be beneficial but is not essential, as training will be provided.
Working Hours
* Monday to Friday: 8:00 am – 5:30 pm.
* Saturday: 8:00 am – 1:30 pm on a rota basis.
Salary
A competitive rate of pay is available for the right candidate, depending on experience and suitability for the role.
