Climber/groundsperson required for Arb Association Approved contracting business covering the Cleveland/Teesside region of North Yorkshire.

The applicant must hold the equivalent of CS38/39 and will preferrably have experience of advanced technical dismantling methods(CS41). A high standard of aerial pruning techniques is also required(CS40 desirable).

The role requires excellent
communication skills in order to liase effectively with customers and team members. The post holder will also need to work to industry best practice and current industry legislation, and assist other staff in carrying out equipment & vehicle checks as directed.

A clean driving licence is essential.

Last week we had a failed willow over a poly tunnel and out building to sort. Then off to Fletcher’s to reduce some limbs that were a bit to long and a failed branch.

Recent work at Slapewath where we used a combination of climbing and manual dismantling techniques together with a crane & grapple saw to remove a number of mature trees from a small area with very limited access beside the beck.

Anyone recognise this ginger cat?
We have been having daily visits from this chap since the weekend. We’re not sure if he’s a stray, been dumped, or just lost. He is very talkative but wary of strange people.

This week we’ve been felling trees at a cliff top/ landslip site and hauling them up the beck.

A spot of help with lifting yesterday. The Merlo & tree shear made an easy job of difficult access and lifting over garages.

More photos of the tree with root plate failure caused by raised soil levels around its roots & stem.

The tree was temporarily made safe on Sunday evening during Storm Dennis by five anchor points secured to neighbouring trees to prevent the tree moving further.

Monday's work was to dismantle the tree and the photos show Matthew climbing and dismantling the tree in sections.

The garden was like a Cat's Cradle with lines to secure the tree overnight and also during take-down spanning the garden.

The final photos show the stem being felled onto sections of roundwood to save damaging the lawn, and to spread the load of the felled stem.
