We use the phrase “boiler efficiency” all the time, but what does it actually mean for homeowners?

In simple terms, boiler efficiency is about how much of the energy used by a boiler is converted into useful heat for your home. The more efficient the boiler, the more of that energy is put to work heating your home and hot water.

So, when you see a boiler with a high efficiency rating, it means it’s designed to make better use of the energy it consumes, which can help reduce energy waste and keep running costs down. But efficiency isn’t the only thing to consider when choosing a boiler – the right size, installation, controls, and how the system’s used all play an important role too.

Earlier this year, we headed to Bacup, Lancashire, with Vincent Van Hien, Director at Magna Renewables Ltd, to visit a PEM750 air source heat pump installation.

The homeowner, John, had previously relied on an all-electric heating system and was looking for a more efficient way to heat his home. By combining the PEM750 with solar energy, he’s now making better use of renewable energy while keeping his home warm and comfortable.
