Bought a couple of these back handle 540xp saws, got them from Wi******er Garden Machinery, put a 16” guide bar on the saw now nick named ‘little cricket’ is a superb topping down saw, totally under estimated how good it was, used it recently on a dead pine removal crane job, 5 cuts , 1 tank of fuel , and no straining with a bigger saw to log down, absolutely brilliant, give it a go , actions speak louder than words 😎 and good value for money !

Largest goat willow I’ve worked on, unfortunately the tree suffered a structural collapse, trees like these need to be retained, heavy pollarding was the only option, whilst pollarding I discovered a bumble bees nest, they don’t like the rain so we simulated rain fall by spraying over the nest whilst we roughly pollarded the remaining limb, bumble bees are important pollinators so it’s important to preserve them, we’ll return in autumn when they have moved on to complete work.

This is one of the biggest goat willows we’ve come across in Woking, unfortunately one of the multiple bifurcated trunks had failed tearing out a huge chunk to reveal a large cavity in the main stem, we agreed with the client that it was important to retain trees like these, so it was decided to carry out a heavy pollard, having completed 80% of the pollard I proceeded to position my footing into the v of the remaining pollard only to discover 5 minutes later I had some little friends trying to say hello, they were of course baby bumble bees 🐝, I executed a high speed decent, with no subsequent stings, the following day we came up with a plan to simulate rainfall spraying over the bees nest which worked a treat as they don’t like to fly in rain, we wanted to protect them as they are important pollinators in our eco systems, we proceeded to roughly pollard the remaining stems to mitigate any structural problems and will return in late autumn to complete the pollarding by tidying up our cuts when the bees are gone.
