HEAT PUMPS!!!!

Not every house is suitable for a heat pump , this is everything we’ve done to our house (1950’s) to make it heat pump ready.

•Dug out all the floors and insulated
•Underfloor heating throughout the whole house.
•Used liquid thermal screed
•Insulated every internal wall and ceiling with 100 mm sound insulation slab
•Lined every existing wall with new plasterboard stuck on with fix a foam, NOT dot and dab.
• Insulated every heating pipe within the ceiling space.
•Made sure all of the upstairs radiators with the correct size for low temperature
•400 mm of loft Insulation
•Installed a complete new system

As you can see a lot of work to make one of these things work efficient , old houses can be made efficient but at a cost. This wasn’t just your standard retrofit.

We are running with a Grant UK Pro R290 6.5 kW heat pump and a 5.1 kW heat loss , that’s only down to the amount of work that I have carried out hence our is so efficient

Heat pumps are in efficient they say!!!!!

At this present time, I don’t think so as we have the Grant UK Pro R290 and am loving it👌🏻
6.5 kW heat pump , been in since mid December 2025 and we have an Avg COP of 5.8, I don’t think that’s too bad myself.

Please advise me if I’m wrong in any of what I’ve said 👍🏻

Another 5yrs over, time for the next 5 💪🏻 Let’s see what this next phase brings.

For those of you that have log burners that sometimes think “can’t be bothered to get my flue swept this year” take a look at this video. All be it it’s about 15 months since I last swept this and we used it A LOT last winter.

Not the best of videos, but all done ready for another winter 💪🏻 even with a cold flue and two smoke bombs, she still had a good draw 🔥
