Pastrana chevalier brigandine, based on examples in the Pastrana Tapestry . This one with hand tinned spring steel plates covered in black wool, decorative punched brass rivets, hand made buckles, hand made brass strap ends with matching spaulders and decorative gold fringe. The customer opted for no tassets but it is designed to be able to add them later if wanted.

A work in progress update whilst flat out for TORM. I have had various designs of gauntlets in the pipeline for some months. Although I probably won’t have them finished in time for next weeks market you will definitely be able to see and handle the prototypes I’ve been working on.

Looks like spring is here and a lovely morning to dry freshly tinned and cleaned brig plates in the sun. Lots to do today including starting to individually gold plate over 1000 rivets, prep a helmet for padding, prep the next brig plates, prep the next brig for cutting out and get the next panel ready for riveting.

A special ASH Wednesday work in grogress! Today involved a very early start and 400 mile round trip to collect parts to update/repair my linisher. Here is a brig I’ve been working on. Now back to the grind stone as lots to work on and TORM looms……
