We're incredibly proud to share that ODM Services has been shortlisted for National Boiler and Heating Installer and Contractor of the Year at the National Energy Efficiency Awards! After winning a number of regional awards this is a real achievement making it to the national stages.

ODM started life as a one-man business in 2014. Today we're a team of almost 30 staff members so this one belongs to everyone who puts the work in every day.

The team heads to Birmingham tomorrow for the ceremony, so fingers crossed! Whatever happens on the night, reaching the national stage is something we're really proud of.

Check out this before and after for a care home client.

It used to be a mess of exposed, uninsulated pipework, an old cylinder crammed into the corner, and years of general clutter built up around it.

We gave it the full ODM treatment: new floor, fresh paint, and now there are two properly sized cylinders, insulated pipework, and enough space to actually service it without a fight.

A look back at the installation phase of this recently completed plant room upgrade.

These progress photos show two of the three new Vaillant boilers installed, alongside two of the three new 500L calorifiers.

The completed system now includes three boilers and 1,500 litres of hot water storage, providing greater capacity and improved resilience for the building.

One of the most important parts of the project was keeping the building operational throughout. Residents’ heating and hot water remained unaffected while the upgrade was carried out.

Old oil boilers. A basement plant room that had done its job for decades. And a block of flats that needed heating and hot water to keep running without interruption.

That was the starting point for our current project at a residential block of flats, a property management client whose ageing oil-fired system had reached the end of its practical life.

Rather than a like-for-like swap, the brief was a full package replacement: modern gas-fired Vaillant boilers, upgraded calorifiers for hot water storage, and a plate heat exchanger to separate the boiler and heating circuits safely.

To keep residents' heating and hot water live throughout, our team rigged temporary boilers in a separate plant room before any of the old system was touched.

This is the first in a short series following the project through to completion. More to follow as the install progresses.

Most people never see a plant room. But everyone notices when it fails.

We're pleased to announce a new project win for the ODM Services team.

We'll be carrying out plant room upgrades for a care home in Longfield, Kent, helping provide residents and staff with something that's essential every single day — reliable heating and hot water.

This project will include the installation of:

✔ 2 new boilers
✔ 2 unvented cylinders
✔ A plate heat exchanger to protect the boilers and improve system longevity

For care homes, reliability isn't just important — it's critical. Residents rely on these systems day and night, which is why every detail matters.

Over the coming weeks, we'll be transforming this ageing plant room into a modern, efficient system designed to deliver dependable performance for years to come.

This is definitely one we'll be sharing more of as the project progresses.
