Just completed the forestry workforce census, and I am sad to say that this cencus is not going to prove particularly helpful to those of us on the ground at contractor level. At least someone has been paid a small fortune, no doubt, to produce this crap, to make some other idiot with no idea look good.😤🤬

Looks like this is happening everywhere, things need to change.

Fuel prices didn’t create the logging challenge—they highlighted it. ⛽
While fuel volatility can increase operating costs quickly, the bigger issue is that logging rates often don’t keep up with the full cost of sustainable operations, including equipment and maintenance realities.
When rates don’t adjust to these changing expenses, the effects can ripple through the whole industry, such as:
• reduced contractor margins
• delayed equipment replacement
• decreased harvesting capacity and consistency
• increased financial strain
• and reduced reliability across the wood supply chain
Bottom line: as costs change, logging rates need to change too—especially when sustainability depends on stable, well-resourced operations. 🌳📈
