* Carefully lifted and removed the surrounding Westmorland green slate.
* Installed new lead valley to provide a watertight finish.
* Re-laid the existing slate around the valley.

🔥 Chimney Breast Restoration — Bringing Back the Original Character

This customer wanted to open up the chimney breasts to make way for new fireplaces and a wood-burning stove.

Once we opened everything up, we discovered the original fireplace openings hidden behind the existing finish. Rather than covering them back over, the customer decided she wanted to showcase the original brickwork and beautiful limestone.

So that’s exactly what we created. 👌

Water was pouring into this property, but the Pro Builds team quickly got it sorted—no problem.

We carried out new lead work, installed new drip beads, and repointed the mortar, leaving the property watertight once again. Another happy customer!

New Flaunching to Chimney Stack

Remove all existing damaged flaunching from the top of the chimney stack. Clean and prepare the surface thoroughly, then apply an SBR bonding/sealing coat. Install new flaunching using a quality mortar mix with SBR admixture and a waterproofing additive to improve strength, adhesion, and weather resistance. Shape and finish the flaunching correctly to provide adequate water run-off, helping to prevent future cracking and water ingress.
We also changed the chimney cowl to a ventilation blocking off cowl as this allows the chimney to breath
