We’re continuing to take climate action through our partnership with ecologi, supporting environmental projects around the world.

One of the projects we’re currently supporting is the Macaúbas landfill gas project in Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Landfill waste produces methane, a greenhouse gas significantly more potent than CO₂. The Macaúbas project captures this methane before it can escape into the atmosphere, using it to generate electricity for Brazil’s national grid and helping to displace power generated from fossil fuels.

Alongside reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the project supports cleaner energy production, improved air quality and local employment.

For us, supporting projects like this forms part of a wider commitment to reducing our environmental impact and encouraging more sustainable thinking across our practice and the projects we deliver.

Designing beyond the building itself.

These diagrams illustrates the concept behind one of our latest apartment schemes, where the architecture, landscape and amenity spaces have been developed as a single, integrated design.

The building form is layered to introduce roof gardens and a set-back upper level, helping to break down the scale of the development while creating valuable external amenity space for residents. Landscaping is woven throughout the scheme, from the site edges and communal areas through to the roof, supporting biodiversity, providing shade and helping to create a softer relationship between the building and its surroundings.

Sustainable design principles have informed the scheme from the outset, with consideration given to solar orientation, natural shelter, planting, permeable surfaces and green roofs as part of the overall environmental strategy.

Materiality is also central to the architectural approach. Changes in texture, depth and detailing are used to give the elevations rhythm and character while maintaining a cohesive overall composition.

From an empty unused site to four new dwellings in the city centre.

This project in Southampton city centre is now approaching completion, and it is great to see the external works coming together.

The scheme started with an underutilised site and, following a long and complex planning journey, secured permission for four new studio apartments designed to meet the needs of young professionals living and working in the city.

Sustainability has been an important part of the design from the outset, with a fabric-first approach supported by renewable energy technologies, alongside the benefits that come from creating new homes within a well-connected city-centre location.

We look forward to seeing the final details completed and the building ready for occupation.

A new project breaking ground on site.

Works have now commenced on this extension and internal renovation, with materials arriving, the first trenches being formed and the initial enabling works underway.

It is always exciting to see a project move from drawings into construction, and these early stages begin to set the groundwork for everything that follows.

We will be supporting the project throughout its delivery and look forward to sharing its progress as the new extension takes shape and the existing house is transformed.

A look ahead at how one of our current projects could take shape once complete.

This illustrative render was prepared to help visualise the finished scheme, which includes a full renovation of the existing house, new front and side extensions, a swimming pool and a subterranean pool house within the garden.

Work is progressing well on site, with the next milestone being completion of the building envelope.

For now, much of the transformation remains hidden behind the scaffolding — but we’re looking forward to seeing the new form of the house revealed as the project continues to progress.

We’re proud to continue supporting reforestation projects through our partnership with Ecologi.

One of the projects we’re contributing to is forest restoration in Kenya, helping support the restoration of important forest landscapes while creating employment and opportunities for local communities.

For us, considering the environmental impact of a project doesn’t have to stop with the building itself.

A first look at the concept work Agustina is developing.

This project begins with the conversion of an existing three-bay garage to create a new gym and office, but forms part of a much wider strategy for the property.

The first phase will see the existing thatched roof replaced with a new plain tile roof incorporating integrated solar panels, beginning a longer-term approach to improving the property’s energy resilience and preparing it for future phases of work.

Alongside the architectural changes, we’ve been exploring how the character and story of the existing building can be retained.

Rather than simply removing the thatch, the concept looks at giving some of the material a second life. Working with local artists, we’re exploring ways it could be woven, layered and bunched to create bespoke artwork, furniture, lighting and interior features, allowing something of the original building to remain within its next chapter.

Internally, the proposals use a warm, restrained material palette, with a continuous bespoke furniture element adapting through the space from desk to seating, storage and display.

Retain / Adapt / Honour.

An early-stage study into how retrofit, renewable technology, interiors and creative reuse can work together as part of one considered design approach.

Recently completed — a cottage refurbishment and extension delivered to a high standard from start to finish.

We were appointed to provide the full architectural service, following the RIBA Plan of Work and taking the project from the early planning stages right through to completion on site.

The result is a carefully considered refurbishment and extension that respects the character of the original cottage while creating a more functional, comfortable and contemporary home.

It’s always rewarding to see a project develop from the first ideas on paper through to the finished building, and we’re really pleased with how this one has come together.
