Just under four years ago, Alex started his Plumbing & Heating apprenticeship. Today, we're incredibly proud to say he's completed his Level 3 City & Guilds qualification and the 1st to finish in his year. 👏
What an achievement, and one that's been earned through hard work, determination and a real commitment to the trade.
Here's something that might surprise you...
Based on the 2024/25 academic year, only 540 people completed a modern Plumbing & Heating apprenticeship. Statistically there is as much chance of becoming a professional footballer as there is of successfully completing a Plumbing & Heating apprenticeship.
That's not because young people don't want to learn the trade, it's because there simply aren't enough apprenticeship opportunities available.
As an industry, we need to do more to encourage businesses to take on apprentices and invest in the next generation. Skilled engineers don't appear overnight, they need the chance to learn, develop and gain experience.
